Rupert Grint has shared the delightful news that he and his partner Georgia Groome have become parents once again. The Harry Potter actor playfully confessed they had kept the birth of their newest addition under wraps before making their public announcement.
The actor, 36, revealed the name of their adorable baby girl on Instagram, with a charming snap showing a onesie marked with the name ‘Goldie’, snugly paired with a cosy grey cardigan. Alongside the cute image, Rupert penned: “‘Secret Child Slightly Revealed’ Introducing Goldie G. Grint. A 10/10 baby (so far).” Tagging obstetrician Dr. Alex Digesu in the post, he added: “Shout out to @alex.digesu for always delivering (sic).”
In the comments, followers were quick to share in the family’s joy, with one fan proclaiming: “Congratulations, Rupert! She is so beautiful, just like her big sister. Her mother and you are wonderful parents.”, reports the Mirror.
Harry Potter references were aplenty, with fans jestingly welcoming another Gryffindor and imagining the expansion of the iconic Weasley clan.
Rupert and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging actress Georgia have been an item since 2011, yet their relationship remained off the radar until a photo blew up on X, formerly known as Twitter. A tweet capturing the surprise of many read: “I was today years old when I found out Georgia from Angus, thongs and perfect snogging has been going out with Ron Weasley since 2011 ? ? ? ?”.
Opening up to Glamour about his bond with Georgia, Rupert reflected: “It’s a very natural thing – we’re just best friends.
“We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way. That’s always made it work – that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great.”
Speculation about their marital status hit in 2019 when Rupert and Georgia were seen sporting similar rings, sparking wedding rumours. Despite the buzz, their spokesperson clarified they hadn’t secretly wed.
Fast forward to May 2020, and the pair welcomed their little one, Wednesday Grint, into the world. Celebrating her arrival, Rupert made his Instagram debut with an adorable picture of his baby girl.
Having got the hang of fatherhood, Rupert once shared how the “terrifying” first night at home with Wednesday kept him up, vigilantly making sure she was okay.
By 2022, Rupert appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he talked about settling into family life. He amusedly recounted that his daughter had picked up some colourful language from spending time with him rehearsing lines for the show [Servant], saying: “the f-word came pretty quickly”.
Rupert told a particularly funny anecdote about little Wednesday’s vocabulary adventures: “Now she just says it whenever she’s excited. We were in the toy store today and she was just walking around, dropping it.”
