GMB’s Kate Garraway consoles emotional guest who had to pull out seven of her own teeth.

On Friday’s Good Morning Britain, viewers were moved as Kate Garraway stepped in to console a tearful guest sharing her distressing story. Layla, who found herself in the impossible situation of pulling her own teeth out due to severe pain, told hosts Adil Ray and Kate about the struggle to find an NHS dentist after making countless calls, with the closest one being two and a half hours away from her home.

Layla’s ordeal, having pulled out seven teeth herself, touches on a wider issue – with 1 in 4 people reportedly turning to DIY dental care. When Layla spoke about the impact on her life, she became emotional, explaining: “It affects every part of my life, I don’t go out…” before tears overwhelmed her.

In that moment, Kate reached out, offering a comforting hand and said, “It’s so awful isn’t it. It’s not only the pain but it’s the emotional toll.”

The conversation then revealed how the missing teeth affected Layla’s self-esteem when she sees her reflection, saying she feels shattered confidence-wise. Desperate for an NHS dentist and unable to afford private care, Layla made a heartfelt plea. Supporting her, Kate expressed sympathy, “It’s not right that you’re feeling this way,” while Adil chimed in reassuringly complimenting her looks despite her ordeal.

The show segment came after Kate interrupted programming with breaking news – Heathrow Airport would be closed until midnight tonight, as per the early announcements to ITV audiences, reports the Mirror.

Kate comforted Layla

She broke the news: “It’s just gone six o’clock. Goodness me, breaking news this morning. Britain’s busiest airport, Heathrow, has been shut down and will stay closed until midnight.

“Passengers are being advised not to travel to the airport under any circumstances, with over 1,000 flights disrupted. It’s all the terminals at Heathrow.”

The shutdown of the nation’s most bustling airport follows a fire at a nearby electrical substation which led to a “significant power outage. Alongside the airport, the outage also cut off electricity to more than 16,000 homes in West London.”

Throughout the programme, Kate and Adil were receiving messages from impacted viewers, with one heartbreakingly sharing that her terminally ill father was on a flight returning to the now-closed airport.
