Gary Barlow fans ‘can’t believe’ as he shares career update

Gary Barlow has shared excitement for his upcoming tour with fans. The singer shared a series of images performing on stage as a solo artist and with Take That.

The former Take That frontman shot to stardom in the 1990s with the boyband . As part of the group Take That, he has won eight BRIT Awards and sold over 45 million records When the band split in 1996, Gary released several albums and singles of mixed success.

Over the years, he has released six solo studio albums, the most recent was 2020’s Music Played by Humans and Take That’s latest album ‘This Life’ was released in 2023.

Last year, Gary announced he was heading out on a solo tour when he shared details about his ‘Songbook’ tour, which will tour the UK this year. The tour will celebrate his four-decade career as a solo artist and member of Take That and will take place in April, May and June 2025. Two dates have been confirmed for Liverpool’s Empire Theatre on April 28 and 29.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 54-year-old said: “Nothing like looking in front of you and seeing hundreds of people singing along… can’t wait to get back on the stage for the Songbook tour! what songs are you excited to see live?”

The singer was flooded with replies as fans were eager to have their suggestions heard. One fan said “This is my first GB concert in 27 years, I’m flying from Argentina. I’d like to listen to: Since I saw you last” as she listed a number of song request. Another commenter added “So proud of you and what you have achieved and overcome! You are a true hero to me, see you in May & June.”

Further comments from fans included “Can’t wait to see you in May #songbooktour looking forward to it!!! Hoping you’ll be singing Forever Love among lots of others of my favourites!” And “What a beautiful post!!!! I still can’t believe I got to hear forever love live. It’s just perfect!!!”

Away from his music career, Gary has had a difficult start to 2025 as he announced last month that his dog Cookie passed away at sixteen-years-old. Taking to Instagram, he posted two photos of Cookie, with one captioned “#ripcookie” and the other with three heart emojis. He first introduced Cookie, who he often referred to as “princess”, to his fans in October 2012, when he shared a picture of her on Twitter captioned: “Everybody meet Cookie”.
