Emmerdale star Lisa Riley thrilled fans as she shared a behind the scenes glimpse during today’s filming. The soap star is renowned for her role as Mandy Dingle in the fictional Yorkshire village.
The 48-year-old first joined the cast of Emmerdale in 1995 and continues to be one of the show’s most important characters. It has been a busy day on set for the star as her character looks to be at the centre of an upcoming storyline.
Lisa shared snaps from set today as she revealed her body double, Angela, has been in action. She shared a snap of the two and said: “As if one Mandy Dingle was not enough this morning filming at the village at @emmerdale ……..you get TWO.
“THANKYOU to my lovely body double Angela, absolute sweetheart next time you get Mandy’s Cowboy Boots also just another day at work!!!”
Celebrity fans and followers heaped praise on the soap star star after the update. Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn said: “Double trouble.”
Jenah said: “Looking amazing ladies!!” Karen added: “They is only one Lisa, we love, great photo.” Isobel added: “Indeed there is only one beautiful Lisa, and only one hilarious Mandy Dingle! What an incredible actress you are Lisa”
One fan speculated the scenes with Lisa’s body double could spell danger for the character. Julie said: “Hope this doesn’t mean Mandy’s in danger at some point ? Can’t have anything happening to her.”
Mandy was thrown into danger earlier this this year in the dramatic Valentine’s Day limo crash. In the scenes, Amy Wyatt, Suzy Merton and Leyla Harding all died.
Lisa described the episodes as the best she has ever been a part of during her time on Emmerdale. Ahead of the programme, she said: “TONIGHT’S episode of @emmerdale is the best episode I have EVER EVER EVER seen, in all my years, the drama, the performances, could not be more proud of our #emmerdale team. CONGRATULATIONS EMMERDALE.”
The actress first burst onto our screens as Mandy Dingle in 1995 for a guest role at her cousin Tina’s wedding. However, the no-nonsense character proved to be a hit with fans and was invited back full-time the following year.
She proceeded to be a mainstay across the next 4 years and was involved in dramatic storylines such as her whirlwind romance with Paddy Kirk.
Lisa returned as Mandy for a brief plot in November 2001, before the former Woolpack barmaid seemingly left the Yorkshire Dales for good.
However, Mandy made her long-awaited return to the soap 18 years later for Marlon Dingle’s wedding to Jessie Grant in 2019. She has been an ever-present since.
