Aaron Dingle has been a much-loved member of the Emmerdale village since he first appeared on the show in 2003.
During his time in the village, Aaron has been involved in many significant relationships with his most recent partner being John Sugden. He had previously been married to Robert Sugden, the supposed long-lost son of Jack Sugden.
John, played by Oliver Farnworth arrived in the soap in August 2024, and has since been embroiled in a web of secrets and lies. This includes the murder of Nate Robinson, who viewers learned was dead under a frozen lake earlier this year.
While becoming acquainted with the villagers, and the family he believes are his, he got into a relationship with Aaron and the pair have been planning a wedding.
The soap villain was also responsible for setting up Ella Forster and is the culprit who drugged his future mum-in-law Chas Dingle.
In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, April 16, Aaron and John had a heart-to-heart, with Aaron explaining to his partner that he doesn’t believe they are on the same page with each other, with Aaron believing his feelings are stronger.
John apologised for storming away from Aaron when they had an argument in yesterday’s episode. He said: “It was childish and I shouldn’t have done it”, before adding that he doesn’t handle situations well.
Fans have been fearful about the future of Aaron after discovering the sinister side of John, so tonight when Aaron once again opened up to his partner, fans weren’t too pleased.
Aaron revealed “getting married so quick it seems impulsive, it’s just because I thought we felt the same about each other.” When asking John what the problem is, he responded “I am, me. I am the problem.”
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “I think John & Aaron’s relationship is rushed, they’ve been dating for only 5mins & already wanna get married. This ain’t gonna end well for Aaron”, alongside a sad face emoji.
Another user wrote “He’s lonely… he can’t be with the man he really wants, so he’s just settling and is rushing all the plans to make sure it happens, which he thinks will protect his heart. Poor chap has no idea…Run Aaron run.”
A third post to the social media platform is from an fan wanting Aaron to reunite with former partner Robert Sugden. They wrote “Aaron needs to run and maybe relocate to the Isle of Wight maybe where a certain freckled Sugden is.”
After the revelations viewers have learned about John in recent months, one post simply read “I hope Aaron is not next on his killing spree !!!!!”
