Emmerdale’s April Windsor, played by Amelia Flanagan, has been showered with congratulations from fans following some exciting news away from the soap.
Amelia became a household name when she joined the ITV soap in 2014 at the tender age of six, playing April, the daughter of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Donna Windsor (Verity Rushworth).
It’s safe to say she was quickly thrown into some major soap storylines. From the heartbreaking death of her mum to living on the streets, April’s time in the Dales has been anything but dull.
Currently, she’s embroiled in a dangerous world of crime, child prostitution and drugs, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

However, off-screen, Amelia recently celebrated a significant personal milestone. On the shared Flanagan family Instagram account, it was announced that Amelia had passed her driving test, reports the Daily Star.
Alongside a snap of Amelia proudly displaying her driving certificate, the caption read: “What a week! @ameliaflanagan08 you’re smashing it in every bit of life and we’re so proud of you. Safe driving gorgeous girl.”

Fans were quick to flood the comments section with congratulatory messages for Amelia. One fan said: “Well done safe driving.” Another added: “Congratulations Amelia on passing your driving test x Such a wonderful and beautiful actress.”
Echoing these sentiments, another follower wrote: “A massive well done Amelia.” A fourth also declared: “Aww well done sweetheart such a star in all that you do congratulations and happy safe driving.”
Amelia isn’t the only one in her family making waves in the soap world. She shares the spotlight with her younger twin siblings, Isabella and William, who portray Hope Stape and Joseph Brown respectively on the rival soap, Coronation Street.

Earlier this year, at the British Soap Awards, Amelia bagged the award for Best Young Performer, marking Emmerdale’s second win of the night, despite EastEnders dominating the awards. Her brother Will was also in the running, and couldn’t hide his emotions when his sister’s victory was announced during her acceptance speech.
As soon as Amelia’s name was announced, William jumped up from his seat, clapping and cheering enthusiastically for his big sister. Viewers of the Soap Awards at home quickly took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on the touching moment.
One viewer gushed: “Aww Amelia Flanagan little Brothers reaction when she got the award yes I am crying ! ! so cute ! #Britishsoapawards.” Another chimed in: “The way her brother stood up to applaud her, he’s so proud. #britishsoapawards.”
