Emmerdale viewers have been left stunned after discovering who a popular star’s celebrity daughter is.
Trudie Goodwin, who first appeared on the ITV soap in 2011 as Georgia Sharma, has a very famous offspring. The actress played the matriarch of the Sharma family, ex-wife to Rishi (Bhasker Patel) and mother to Jai (Chris Bisson), Nikhil (Rik Makarem) and Priya (Fiona Wade).
Georgia was at the centre of several major storylines during her time on the show, including the collapse of her marriage to Rishi and supporting her daughter, Priya, through her battle with an eating disorder.
After a four-year stint, Georgia left Emmerdale in 2015 for a cruise, only to return in 2023, this time portrayed by Lin Blakley.

Trudie is no newcomer to the small screen. Besides Emmerdale, she also starred in the iconic police drama The Bill, where she played Sergeant June Ackland, reports Leicestershire Live.
One of the original cast members, Trudie made her debut in the pilot episode in 1983 and remained on the show for over three decades before leaving in 2007.

However, it’s not just Trudie’s acting career that has caught fans’ attention. Viewers were shocked to learn that her daughter is none other than Elly Jackson, the lead vocalist of pop duo La Roux.
Formed in 2006 by Elly and producer Ben Langmaid, La Roux achieved significant chart success with their 2009 hit singles In For The Kill and Bulletproof.

Their debut album, which was self-titled, hit the shelves that year and sold over 2 million copies worldwide.
In 2012, Ben decided to part ways with the group, leaving Elly to continue making music under the La Roux name as her stage persona. Her second album, Trouble In Paradise, was released in 2014, followed by her most recent work, Supervision, in 2020.
Fans were taken aback when they discovered that Trudie is actually Elly’s mum. They took to an Emmerdale Facebook fan page to express their surprise.
One fan wrote: “Genuinely didn’t know that! Someone else replied: ” Another chimed in: “Same here, I remember their songs from years ago.” A third added: “You learn something new every day!”
