Christopher Parker played the beloved role of Spencer Moon on EastEnders, but since his soap exit has taken on a completely different career and still looks very familiar today
Spencer Moon, played by actor Christopher Parker, first stole our hearts when he arrived in Albert Square on EastEnders over a decade ago. The character made his debut in Walford in 2002 alongside older brother Alfie Moon (played by Shane Richie), and they resided in The Queen Victoria with their beloved Nana Moon.
At the tender age of 19, Chris joined the cast and quickly became a fan favourite. From a one-night stand with Vicki Fowler (Scarlett Alice Johnson) to being blackmailed by Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Spencer certainly experienced his fair share of drama during his three-year stint on the soap.
The troubled character even ended up behind bars after being framed for a drug stash mishap. Spencer remained on the BBC soap until 2005 before Alfie sent his younger brother to live with their cousin Maxwell in Australia to keep him out of trouble.
Since his time on the BBC soap, Chris swapped acting for a high-flying career in law. The actor, now 41, graduated from Birkbeck University in London with a law degree, and as of October 2022, he is reported to be a senior consultant at a London-based law firm.
Before this dramatic career change, Chris dabbled in the world of TV presenting. He was a contestant on The F Word, became a CBBC continuity presenter, reported entertainment news on This Morning, and even had a role on Hotel Babylon’s second series in 2007.
Chris spent two years in the US, working for TMZ and co-hosting Dead Famous Live with Gail Porter in Los Angeles. The former EastEnders heartthrob has been relatively low-key in recent years, but he’s no stranger to reality TV and notably took part in the debut series of Strictly Come Dancing, where he was a runner-up to Natasha Kaplinsky.
In recent photos on his law firm website and LinkedIn, Chris doesn’t look like he’s aged a day since he waved goodbye to EastEnders. He still boasts the familiar clean-shaven and dark brunette short-cut hairstyle we all recognise from his acting days.
While it’s been almost two decades since his EastEnders exit, rumours were rife in 2023 that Chris would reprise his role of Spencer and return to the BBC soap. It came following Alfie’s heart-tugging cancer diagnosis as he mentioned his son and brother, suggesting Spencer would pay a visit amid the news.
Unfortunately for fans, Spencer never made a comeback, but this isn’t the first time fans have speculated his return. Back in 2010, there was a buzz about Spencer making a comeback, but the BBC quickly shut down the chatter with a spokesperson stating: “There are absolutely no plans to bring Chris Parker – or the character of Spencer Moon – back to EastEnders.”
