EastEnders fans reckon they’ve sussed out Zack Hudson’s new love interest – and they’re not exactly thrilled about it.
Zack, played by James Farrar, has been a mainstay on the soap since his first appearance in 2021. Arriving as Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) secret brother, Zack quickly became a fan favourite.
He’s also been at the centre of several major storylines. From his numerous love affairs to his devastating HIV diagnosis, his stint in Walford has been anything but dull.
Particularly over the past year, when last year Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) left Walford with their baby daughter after discovering Zack had slept with her best mate Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).
Despite breaking up, the duo ended things on friendly terms, with Whitney assuring Zack that he would always be a part of their child’s life, reports Plymouth Live.
In addition to Whitney’s departure, Zack’s world was rocked when he found out he was the real dad of Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), who he shares with Nicola (Laura Doddington). Zack and Nicola had a brief romance years ago.
Then, in February, Zack was heartbroken when his mate Martin Fowler (James Bye) died in the Queen Vic explosion during the soap’s 40th anniversary special.
But now, after his dramatic few months, fans are predicting a new love story for Zack. However, it seems some viewers aren’t too pleased about it.
In the latest twist from Albert Square, Zack was spotted drowning his sorrows at Harry’s Barn in Wednesday’s episode (May 7). As revellers partied around him, a downbeat Zack opened up to Chelsea Fox (played by Zaraah Abrahams) about how much he missed Whitney and his child, and even mentioned Martin Fowler in his woes.
But eagle-eyed fans got distracted by the undeniable chemistry sparking between Zack and Chelsea. Comments started flying on an EastEnders Facebook fan group, with one fan speculating: “Chelsea and Zack? Hmmmm.”
Another passionately added their two pence: “If they put them together I swear! I don’t want them together.”
Someone else didn’t hold back their feelings, stating: “It looks like it! Nobody asked for this ngl.” Mirroring the sentiment, yet another viewer remarked: “Yeah they def had a moment.”
