Dancing On Ice’s Dan Edgars has detailed what training for the show is really like ahead of it’s launch this week, admitting the rehearsals have been ‘tough’ and gruelling on his body.
Dan Edgar has opened up on his intense rehearsals for the upcoming season of Dancing on Ice. Slated to make a splash on our screens Sunday, January 12, a new host of celebs have been sharpening their skates over Christmas with hopes of gliding to victory.
Talking about his journey so far and how it’s had some difficult moments, The Only Way is Essex sensation Dan said “I am really enjoying it. It is tough. I am using muscles in my legs I have never used before in my life.”
Talking to The Sun, he continued: “My legs are feeling it most days. I have fallen over a couple of times. But it is mad how quickly – if you do something for two hours a day, there’s nothing in life where you really stick at it.”
Continuing that he’s feeling gratitude for being part of the show, Dan shared: “The whole experience… I am really grateful to have the opportunity to do it. We started our routine and I have got a wardrobe fitting soon… I am sure there will be some mad outfits.”
Dan is partnered with skating partner Vanessa James Amoros, with whom he has been seen nailing some lifts during practice sessions. Dan reportedly asked not to be paired with one specific skating professional, Vanessa Bauer.
Vanessa was teamed with Dan’s former TOWIE co-star Joey Essex during the 2023 series, with reports circulating that the pair were also involved romantically at the time. Last year, a source told The Sun: “Dan didn’t want anything to distract him from the competition and he didn’t want to have to worry about what Joey was thinking.
“Why create any problems when it’s easily avoided by asking for a different dancer? Insiders say it was discussed as part of his discussions about joining the show and didn’t cause any problems.”
For the show’s new series, ITV are offering a 24-hour support line for this year’s contestants. The ITV show’s producers allegedly sent out a detailed six-page letter to the 12 celebrities lined up for the January 2025 series, reassuring them they can voice concerns “without fear of abuse”.
Each contestant will also have a dedicated producer to look after their “wellbeing”. The move comes after a string of incidents over at the BBC with Strictly Come Dancing, including allegations made against former pro Giovanni Pernice by Amanda Abbington, and the exit of Graziano Di Prima
