Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien was flooded with supportive messages as she marked a special occasion. The soap star is renowned for her role as Sarah Platt on the Cobbles.
The actor arrived in Weatherfield in 1999 when she took over the role from twins, Leah and Lynsay King. She has played the role across multiple stints and is always involved in the centre of the show’s major storylines. Some of the most dramatic ones have included Richard Hillman’s reign of terror and the rollercoaster relationship with Jason Grimshaw, which explored the subject of teenage pregnancy.
She remains as central to the show’s storylines as ever and is expected to be involved when Bethany Platt, played by Lucy Fallon, makes her eagerly awaited return over the coming weeks. Away from the screen, Tina regularly shares updates from her exciting life in the limelight.
She enjoys a close bond with her co-stars and many have taken to social media today to wish her well as she celebrated her 42nd birthday. Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor, shared a red carpet photo from when they were both just starting out in Coronation Street.
She said: “Happy birthday to you, gorgeous @tinaob83… we never get pics of our fun times these days so here’s a 20 year old one of us being all ‘wholesome’ on a red carpet.”
Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, added: “Happy birthday to our beautiful little pocket rocket.” Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson, posted: “Happy birthday. Hope you have a lovely day.”
Tina reflected on her special day as she revealed she is celebrating on set. She shared a snap of a Krispy Kreme doughnut delivery, alongside the caption: “Another year around the sun, another @coronationstreet birthday.
“Such a gorgeous bunch of people to work with. Far too many to name individually but I love all my corrie fam so thank you.”
Tina was in attendance at last month at the wedding of her onscreen brother, Jack P Shepherd. She was one of many Corrie stars in attendance.
Tina posed alongside Lucy Fallon and Julia Goulding as they celebrated Jack tying the know with his now wife, Hanni Treweek.
She captioned the post: “What an incredible wedding day celebrating @jackpshepherd88 and @hannitreweek Basking in the love with my besties.”
Tina has grown up on screen and her friends praised when she celebrated her milestone 40th birthday in 2023. A friend named Chloe Bodkin said: “Cannot believe we are celebrating your 40th!”
