Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon is reprising her iconic role as Bethany Platt after taking maternity leave earlier this year.
Bethany departed Weatherfield earlier this year after discovering her then-fiancé Daniel Osbourne had been unfaithful with his ex, Daisy Midgeley.
Daisy later found herself at the centre of a dramatic paternity storyline, unsure whether Daniel or Kit Green was the father of her unborn child, but ultimately she tragically suffered a miscarriage after being involved in a car accident, marking actress Charlotte Jordan’s exit from the role after five years.
In the show, Bethany left for London after receiving a job offer, but in real life, actress Lucy took maternity leave to welcome her second child with partner Ryan Ledson. The couple are also parents to two year old Sonny.

In January, Lucy announced the arrival of her baby daughter, Nancy Margaret, sharing an adorable photo and writing: “Our teeny angel girl is here 11/1/25 x” accompanied by heart and glitter emojis, reports Belfast Live.
On July 8, Lucy shared an update on Instagram, confirming her return to the soap after her maternity leave. Posting a photo from her dressing room, she simply stated: “And just like that she’s back…”
A Coronation Street spokesperson has confirmed to Metro that Lucy will be “returning to filming in the summer after maternity leave, as always planned”, adding: “Bethany will be back on screen in October.”
Bethany has been a key character on the cobbles since 2000. Initially portrayed by Mia Cookson in 2000, and then by Amy and Emily Walton from 2000 to 2007, Lucy has taken over the role since 2015, marking a decade on the cobbles.

Throughout her maternity leave, actress Lucy has kept her fans in the loop, regularly posting updates on her Instagram, which boasts a whopping 596K followers.
This news comes during a tumultuous time for the Platt family on the cobbles, following the recent departure of two family members from Weatherfield.
The family matriarch, Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, left on Christmas Day as actress Helen, 74, retired after a half-century on the show.
In addition, David Platt’s son, Max Turner, bid farewell to the cobbles in March after he was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars for intentionally setting his family’s house ablaze in an attempted insurance fraud to settle David’s debts.
