Coronation Street's Kirk 'to find love again' after Beth and it’s with returning icon

Coronation Street viewers are predicting a fresh love interest for Kirk Sutherland, and it’s none other than a returning soap legend.

Kirk, played by Andy Whyment, has been a constant presence on the cobbles since his first appearance in 2000. As Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) brother, he quickly became a fan favourite.

Known for his witty one-liners and charming personality, Kirk has been at the centre of numerous major storylines, ensuring his time in Weatherfield has been anything but dull.

He’s also experienced his fair share of romantic disappointments, with his most recent relationship being with ex-resident Beth Tinker (Lisa George). Kirk and Beth became an item back in 2013 when he saved her from a disastrous date.

Their relationship quickly blossomed, and they soon became a beloved couple among soap fans. Making their relationship official, Kirk and Beth said their vows in 2015, reports Leicestershire Live.

However, in August 2024, Beth shattered Kirk’s heart when she left the cobbles after being driven out of town by shady character Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Since then, Kirk has been heartbroken but eager to move forward.

Now, fans are certain that a new romantic prospect is on the horizon for Kirk. Sharing their theories online, viewers believe he could kindle a romance with former soap star Cilla Battersby-Brown (Kirk Sutherland).

Fans on a Corrie Facebook fan page are buzzing with speculation, with one musing: “Maybe they will bring Cilla back,” and another adding: “I would so love that.”

A third joined in the excitement, suggesting: “She would be a good match Kirk don’t you think so?” to which another viewer enthusiastically replied: “Yeah tbh”.

Wendi as Cilla in Coronation Street

Since first appearing as Les Battersby’s (Bruce Jones) flame in 2003, Cilla won the hearts of the audience.

Highlights of her time include the unforgettable moment when she and Les crashed through their own ceiling, courtesy of Schmeichel the dog’s surprise bath intrusion.

Yet, viewers felt a pang of loss when, in 2007, Cilla waved farewell to Weatherfield, and even her brief comeback in 2014 wasn’t enough to sate fans’ appetites, leaving them yearning for the return of the boisterous soap legend ever since.
