Coronation Street’s Daisy Midgeley quits after 4 years as she becomes fifth star to leave in weeks

Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan has announced she has quit the ITV soap, with her character Daisy Midgeley expected to leave the cobbles later this year.

Coronation Street favourite, Charlotte Jordan, known for her role as Daisy Midgeley, is saying farewell to the ITV soap. After four years on the cobbles, Charlotte announced that she’s hanging up her boots this summer – making her the fifth star to leave the soap in weeks. It follows on from the departures of Helen Worth, Colson Smith, Sue Cleaver, Sue Devaney and Luca Toolan.

Revealing the sad news, Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.” She added: “It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.

A source added to The Sun that despite Charlotte’s love for the role, she’s keen to take on new challenges. They said: “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her. She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline. She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer. She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”

Throughout her spell on the soap, Charlotte’s character Daisy was embroiled in intense storylines, including a blackmail saga and a terrifying stalking ordeal by Justin Rutherford that tragically escalated into an acid attack, impacting both Daisy and Ryan (played by Ryan Prescott).

With her exceptional portrayal following the stalking plotline, Charlotte scooped up the British Soap award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2023. Post-Helen Worth’s unforgettable departure, playing Gail for 5 decades, a spate of exits is on the horizon for 2025, bidding farewell to Charlotte along with Colson, who plays Craig Tinker, Sue, who portrays Eileen Grimshaw and Debbie Webster actress Sue Devane.

While Luca, who is Mason Radcliffe on the show has already said his goodbyes, Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) is due for a temporary exit as she heads on maternity leave. Lucy is expecting her second child, a baby girl, with her footaller partner Ryan Lesden.

It comes almost two years since she became a mum for the first time to son Sonny Jude, in February 2023. While many are moving on to pastures new, Lucy is expected to return to the cobbles after her maternity leave.
