Coronation Street star says, “Let’s hope not,” as she discusses the future of the soap.

Coronation Street star Sally Carman said, ‘Let’s hope not’, as she opened up on her soap future.

The 44-year-old actress, who plays Abi Webster, joined the soap in 2017 and has since been at the heart of some gripping plots.

Her character suffered immense tragedy when her son, Seb Franklin (played by Harry Visinoni), was murdered in a senseless gang attack back in 2021, and she recently relived that agony with the death of Mason Radcliffe (portrayed by Luca Toolan).

In a recent interview with The Sun, Sally opened up about her aspirations to stick around on the street, expressing her desire to stay part of the Corrie family for many more years, reports Leicestershire Live.

“I see Corrie in my future and I’m hoping they do,” she shared.

“Do you know what? If it was all to end tomorrow, I would literally be going out with the biggest thank you, because I came in for six episodes and here I am.

“So, there would be nothing but absolute gratitude. But let’s hope not just yet! I’m loving it and I’m just grateful for every day.”

In recent episodes, viewers have seen Abi’s turmoil as she battles her attraction to her brother-in-law, Carl (Jonathan Howard), while her husband, Kevin (Michael Le Vell), undergoes treatment for testicular cancer.

It's not long before Carl tells Abi it's time to be honest and as he moves in for a kiss, how will Abi react?

Last week, Abi made the tough choice to distance herself from Kevin as her feelings for Carl became too strong to ignore.

When Abi was later forced to attend a car breakdown, Kevin went to the hospital alone to get his test results. During the appointment, he was told that he was cancer-free, and didn’t need anymore treatment.

However, feeling that Abi might leave him, Kevin deceived his wife by claiming he needed additional chemotherapy.

“I’m not in the clear. Far from it,” he told her.

Kevin Webster

Actor Sally has shared that fans are rooting for Abi to stay with Kevin instead of Carl, and she’s on their side.

“I feel the same! Abi loves Kevin, but Carl has awakened her feelings. She’s been desperately trying to fight it because she knows what she’s got to lose,” she explained.

“In real life, Abi wouldn’t be a friend of mine. I do like her, I think she’s got great qualities – she’s got a huge heart – but she’s also a handful.

“And because she’s emotionally immature, she gets very defensive, very upset, very hurt. I wouldn’t want that in my life.”
