Daniel Brocklebank

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has reached a landmark moment in his career as he announced his final scenes have now been filmed. Playing the role of Billy Mayhew on the soap, Daniel has been involved in some major storylines including the heartbreaking battle his on-screen partner Paul faced with motor neurone disease.

When Billy first arrived in Weatherfield in 2014, he was introduced as the new partner of Sean Tully before dating Todd Grimshaw and then Paul Foreman. Recent storylines have explored how Billy has struggled to deal with the impact of his partner’s death.

Daniel and Peter took home the award for Best Partnership at the Inside Soap Awards in 2024. They also received the award for Best Storyline at the Radio Times Soap Awards, for their portrayal of Paul’s struggle with motor neurone disease.

The actor has opened up about the final day of filming.

On Instagram, he posed for a picture and hugged his on-screen daughter and co-star Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman on the cobbles.

The Instagram post said: “My final day today working with this beautiful human. I’ve loved playing her tv dad. What an honour it has been. An incredible woman. I shall miss her terribly. Thank goodness I’ll get to see her in real life for dinners, walks & cuddles.”

Harriet responded to the post, saying: “What an adventure we’ve had! I love you loads” and former soap husband, Peter Ash, commented: “You two are ace.”

Daniel took to social media to announce his exit, as he shared a photograph of the script for Billy’s exit storyline. He wrote: “Bye bye Billy.” Away from the drama in Weatherfield, Daniel confirmed an exciting career move. The 45-year-old is arriving in Liverpool and returning to his theatre roots.

He is starring in Young Frankenstein The Musical at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre. The show will run for five weeks, from December 3 to January 3.

He shared the news on social media as he said: “I’m so very excited to get started on this! An incredibly talented team of creatives. It’s a brilliant show. Hope to see you there!”

Daniel will lead the cast as Dr Frederick Frankenstein, taking over from Ore Odube after a run at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester. Joining Daniel in Liverpool will be Amelia Adams (Annie, Jersey Boys) as Elizabeth Benning.

Returning cast members include Jessica Martin as Frau Blücher, Pete Gallagher as The Monster, Curtis Patrick as Igor, Simeon Truby as Inspector Hans Kemp/Harold the Hermit, and Julie Yammanee as Inga.
