Coronation Street reveals the true identity of Lauren Bolton’s dad — and he’s a legendary cobbles character.

Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve cracked the mystery surrounding the true identity of Lauren Bolton’s father, and it turns out he’s a familiar face from the cobbles.

Lauren, played by Cait Fitton, has been a regular on the ITV soap since her 2022 debut, making waves as a fiery and steadfast teen.

Her storylines have been nothing short of dramatic, from growing up with her far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson), to surviving an abusive relationship with Joel Deering (Calum Lill) who left her pregnant and for dead. Her time in Weatherfield has certainly been eventful.

In a shocking twist last year, Lauren ended up killing Joel, sparking a major whodunnit plotline on the soap. Luckily, she managed to avoid jail time for the crime.

On top of all this, Lauren has been grappling with her baby Frankie’s health complications. The little one recently underwent a stem cell transplant after being diagnosed with aplastic anaemia.

However, during Wednesday’s episode (April 23), Lauren was taken aback when she discovered a package for Frankie at the hospital. Noticing the prison stamp, she quickly realised it was from her father Reece, reports Leicestershire Live.

Shortly afterwards, Lauren paid a visit to Reece in prison. Fans will remember that Reece was arrested in 2023 for his involvement with a far-right gang led by Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron), who had groomed Max Turner (Paddy Bever).

During a tense prison visit with Reece, Lauren made it crystal clear that her baby Frankie would be kept away from her ill father. But the plot thickened as Reece dropped a bombshell hint, suggesting he might not actually be Lauren’s biological dad.

This left Lauren reeling, and she later poured her heart out to Roy Cropper (David Neilson), considering the possibility of taking a DNA test to uncover the truth.

Now, Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve pieced together the paternity puzzle. Debating fervently on a Corrie Facebook fan page, one sleuth fan speculated: “So I’m guessing a ‘who’s the real father’ storyline is looming for Lauren?”.

Fuel was added to their speculation when another fan asserted that it could be none other than soap icon Martin Platt (played by Sean Wilson) with a confident: “Martin Platt!”.

A third concurred, thinking this revelation would wreak havoc: “You could be onto something, it would definitely throw a spanner in the works.” While another fan noted: “Wouldn’t be the wildest thing to happen!”
