Coronation Street fans have shown their support for real-life couple Sally Carman and Joe Duttine after a heartwarming family update.
Sally – who portrays Abi Webster – and Joe – who stars as Tim Metcalfe – began their romance on the ITV soap in 2018. The pair announced they had taken their relationship to the next level by moving in together the following year.
By March 2020, Sally and Joe had become engaged after he proposed during a lockdown stroll. After postponing their nuptials several times because of Covid, the lovebirds finally exchanged vows in July 2022, reports the Daily Star.
The pair wed in a stunning ceremony at St Philip’s Church in Salford, with Sally taking on the role of stepmother to Joe’s three youngsters.
The couple frequently share glimpses into their life beyond Coronation Street – from romantic getaways to their home in a village on the outskirts of Stockport.
Last week, Joe posted an endearing snap of their beloved pooch Fig on Instagram. The photograph showed the dog sitting beside a pint glass, with Joe writing: “…. hammered.”
Followers were left swooning over Joe’s post and quickly flooded the comments section. One fan gushed: “Oh my, he’s so beautiful.” A second chimed in: “Aw cutie, mum and dad leading you into bad ways.”
A third commented: “Just so adorable.” Sally also responded with a playful remark: “Who’s going to drive us home.”
Despite their off-screen romance, Sally admitted to OK! Magazine earlier this year that sharing the screen with her other half is not exactly a dream come true.
“I’d be very happy never to have a scene with him ever again,” she chuckled. “I love Joe to bits, but I don’t like working with him – I’m never going to like working with him.
“Bless him, we’ve got very different work processes – let’s just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared; he likes to flesh it out on the floor.”
She continued: “Also, he’s very funny. I’m such a giggler, and once I’ve gone, I’m gone. It’s terrible, and even if people get annoyed about it, it doesn’t help. He absolutely makes me howl with laughter, and he does it on purpose. I get cross with him because he knows the situation, but he can’t help himself.”
