Coronation Street: Lauren’s blackmailer possibly uncovered — and it’s not Lisa Swain

Coronation Street identity of Lauren’s blackmailer ‘revealed’ - but it’s not Lisa Swain

Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve cracked the mystery of who’s been sending texts to Lauren Bolton in a surprising revenge plot twist – and it’s not the obvious suspect.

Lauren, played by Cait Fitton, has been a fixture on the ITV soap since her 2022 debut. Known for her fiery spirit and unwavering loyalty, she’s been at the heart of numerous pivotal storylines.

Her tumultuous journey includes growing up with her far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson), surviving an abusive relationship with Joel Deering (Calum Lill) that resulted in a pregnancy, and even being left for dead. The drama didn’t stop there; last year, Lauren was embroiled in a major whodunnit after killing Joel, though she managed to avoid jail time.

In addition to all this, Lauren has been grappling with her baby Frankie’s health complications. The little one recently underwent a stem cell transplant following a diagnosis of aplastic anaemia.

Fans are questioning if two Coronation Street teens could secretly be related on the ITV soap

This week, however, Lauren found herself on the wrong side of the law when she crashed Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) flower van while trying to stop Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) from vandalising it, reports Leicestershire Live.

Fans will remember that Betsy has been dealing with an arm injury sustained during a hostage situation involving Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss), Tracy, her mother Lisa (Vicky Myers), and Carla Connor (Alison King).

Fuelled by vengeance, she began her assault on Tracy’s floral arrangements, only to be caught in the act by Lauren, who attempted to de-escalate the situation with Betsy. However, chaos ensued when Tracy emerged, prompting a panicked Lauren to flee in her vehicle, ultimately leading to a crash nearby.

Amidst the unfolding drama, the police arrived and Betsy compelled Lauren to make a quick exit, volunteering to shoulder the blame. The decision landed Betsy in hot water, especially with her mother Lisa, who is on the police force, clearly incensed.

A secret rendezvous later saw Lauren and Betsy debrief over the event, with Betsy vowing to shield Lauren from any fallout – a promise that left Lauren visibly relieved. But after parting ways, Lauren’s relief was short-lived as she received an ominous text.

An unidentified sender had contacted Lauren, threatening her over the stolen van and hinting at a steep price for her involvement – a text that threw Lauren off balance. And as if that wasn’t enough to unsettle her, Monday’s episode (April 28) delivered another blow.

After sharing her worries with Bobby Crawford (played by Jack Carroll), Lauren was hit with a second message: this time, a photograph that placed her undeniably at the scene with Betsy.

While speculations are rife about the identity of the mysterious messenger, fans are divided. A Coronation Street aficionado speculated on a fan page: “So who’s sending Lauren those messages then?”.

Fans swarmed the comments section, buzzing with theories that the mystery antagonist might just be Bobby – the very same who Lauren had rebuffed romantically. One fan asserted their guess, simply stating: “Defo Bobby.”

Another agreed, adding: “100%, he might still be bitter and is out for revenge.” And reinforcing the widespread suspicion, someone else contributed: “I feel like it’s Bobby.”
