The 54-year-old actress, who has made a big impact since joining the ITV soap, recently appeared on the beloved quiz show Countdown, joining the famous “Dictionary Corner.”
Claire shared the exciting update on social media, posting a photo with host Colin Murray and writing: “Well that was fun! Loved being in dictionary corner today on Countdown. Thanks for the laughs.” Fans and fellow celebs quickly flooded the comments with support and excitement, including Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick, who said: “Love this.”
On Coronation Street, Claire’s character Cassie has been at the heart of some major drama. After drugging Ken Barlow to keep him dependent on her—and stealing from him—Cassie faced serious consequences. Tracy Barlow attempted to push her back into addiction, but Cassie resisted and has been trying to redeem herself, earning forgiveness from both Steve McDonald and her son Tyrone Dobbs.

Despite her rocky storylines, Claire has shared how much she loves being part of the iconic show. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, she said: “It’s part of history being in this show and I feel very honoured to be part of Corrie. I get all the flirtation stuff with Steve McDonald, I get to scrap with Tracy Barlow and poison a national treasure. There’s not a dull moment and I’m so grateful for these brilliant storylines.”
Claire’s current contract with Coronation Street is due to end in June, and it’s not yet known whether it will be renewed. Reflecting on her career, she said she’s proud of her journey—from singing in Liverpool clubs at 14 to acting, presenting, and more. “Some jobs are higher profile than others, and you accept it. It’s the nature of the business… I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to have a go of everything. Singing, dancing, acting, presenting. I love and treasure every minute.”
As for what’s next in 2025, Claire is open to new opportunities and ready to embrace whatever comes her way.
