“Channel 4 speaks out after Gogglebox couple dropped from the show.”

Roisin and Joe off Gogglebox

Gogglebox fans have been left disappointed after finding out two stars from the show have been axed. Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle were the first Scots to appear on Gogglebox in over six years but will not be returning to our screens on a Friday evening.

The couple announced the news on TikTok last night, a statement from Roisin said: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26.

“Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights!

“It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”

The couple, who live together in Glasgow, joined the 19th series of the show back in 2022 and ever since, they’ve been making viewers laugh with their sense of humour and witty comments. They have been together for seven years after they began dating in 2018.

Roisin, captioned the post “it’s been real”, as fans sent messages of support. One comment said “Love you and Joe on Gogglebox. Won’t be the same without you.”

Marie added “No way definitely the best in there we love you and Joe” and another user wrote “Wait. I have just re-read your statement, they let you go? So sorry, I like the regional aspect, the counties and countries represented. UK isn’t just London. Lots of luck for your next adventure.”

One Scottish commenter said: “So disappointed for you and us – you two represented us so brilliantly and you were great to watch. Hope there’s something else on the horizon for you, if that’s what you want.”

Another agreed: “No, loved watching you and Joe. You are a lovely couple and flying the flag for Glasgow. Channel 4 have made a boo-boo here. We will miss you.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson has spoken about the axing of the Scottish couple, saying: “We thank Joe and Roisin for their contributions to Gogglebox over the years, and wish them all the best for the future.”

In Roisin’s message to followers, she added: “It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.

“We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely.

“A huge thank you to everyone who has watched us, met us, and supported us during this experience, it for sure has been a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
