The cameras have stopped rolling, and the cast has celebrated the completion of filming. A special snap featuring Stephen McGann (Dr Turner) and Natalie Quarry (Nurse Clifford) with the iconic clapperboard captured the moment production wrapped up.

The post stated: “We have just received this traditional ‘end slate’ clapperboard shot from the set of Call the Midwife, where the very final scene of Series 14 has just been filmed! ! This year it was the turn of Stephen McGann and Natalie Quarry to bring the filming to a close with a VERY emotional story..”

Anticipation is high, and viewers can only guess what awaits them in the new series. Fortunately, there’s not long to wait, reports the Mirror, as the season 14 premiere airs on Sunday, January 5 at 8pm on BBC One.

The much-anticipated eight-part series commences with a plot staged in March 1970, where the crew at Nonnatus House join forces to support a young pregnant teenager, her family stubbornly clinging to the belief of an immaculate conception. Meanwhile, “Demonstrations cause havoc for the Nonnatus team, whilst Nancy’s relationship blossoms.”

During a heartwarming Christmas special, Nancy stepped up to aid a handsome man in urgent need of Dr Turner. After initially refusing his invitation for a date, a chance encounter at the carol service held by Nonnatus House hints that love might be on the horizon.

The fan-favourite line-up makes a triumphant return, featuring Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Linda Bassett as Nurse Phyllis Crane, and Judy Parfitt in the venerable role of Sister Monica Joan. Adding to the stellar cast, Helen George will don the mantle of Trixie Franklin once more, together with Laura Main as Shelagh Turner and Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins.
