Britain’s Got Talent star Teddy Magic quits show after pulling out of semi-final

Britain’s Got Talent’s young magician Teddy Magic has officially exited the competition, with a spokesperson confirming his withdrawal after he unexpectedly missed the first live semi-final. Teddy was set to showcase his tricks during last month’s live semi-final, but presenters Ant and Dec revealed at the last minute that that the eight year old needed more preparation. Later in the episode, it was shared with viewers that he wouldn’t be performing that night, yet there was hope he would return at a later stage.

However, a representative for Britain’s Got Talent has now confirmed that following discussions, Teddy will not be taking part in this year’s series.

A BGT spokesperson stated: “After discussions with Teddy’s parents and the production team, it has been jointly agreed that Teddy won’t perform in this year’s semi-finals, but BGT hopes to see Teddy again in a future series.”

Teddy’s family expressed their gratitude for the support he’s received, saying: “We want to thank everyone who has supported Teddy and cheered him on – he continues to fill our world with magic,” they told The Sun, reports the Mirror.

When Ant and Dec made the announcement during the live semi-final that Teddy needed more time, Simon Cowell questioned: “Wait, so the act’s not ready?”

Dec confirmed that Teddy needed more time, with Simon remaining straight-faced as he said: “Well that’s okay, it’s live.”

“He’s only eight years old, so back off!” Ant urged, with the head judge repeating: “It’s fine, it’s fine. If he’s not ready, he’s not ready.” Despite his words Simon didn’t seem very impressed, with the crowd booing at his reaction. He then asked: “Why are they booing?”

Simon added: “You’ve got to be ready. We’re fine,” as Ant declared: “He’s got to get ready.”

The same night, ITV show announced they were having technical difficulties. Led dance act The Blackouts were due to perform on stage, however, they were halted due to the problems.

Nevertheless, the act went on to perform and received the first semi-final Golden Buzzer in BGT history, sending them straight through to the final.
