Bradley Walsh has opened up about the moment that left him “speechless” during filming for his new series, Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code. The 64-year-old embarked on an Egyptian adventure for the three-part show, delving into some of Ancient History’s most profound enigmas, such as the mystery of The Sphinx and past of the pyramids.

One particular highlight for the presenter was when he visited the tomb of famous pharaoh Tutankhamun. Reflecting on his experience, he shared with Best Magazine: “The boy was only nine when he came king, he had advisers, all those people, he’s trying to run this entire country.

“Does he make good decisions? It doesn’t matter, he’s a kid, he’s a boy. And, when I saw him lying there all those years later, away from his artefacts he was buried with, and thousands of people pass by and not one of them is his family.

“He’s on his own, just lying there and I found that really moving. Don’t forget he had a wife and kids, but now he’s all on his own.” Expressing further sympathy for Tutankhamun, Bradley said he felt “very, very, sorry” for the young ruler.

He continued: “I find it a shame to be on your own after all those years still and not have anyone to say, ‘How you doing son, what you up to?’.” Bradley went on to say the moment left him “very, very, sad” and “speechless”.

Bradley was drawn to the Sky History project due to his “fascination” with the pyramids. “I have been captivated by Ancient Egypt for as long as I can remember, and now, finally experiencing it first-hand feels truly magical,” he shared with the publication.

The Chase host went on to say he had “so many questions”, particularly about the history of the pyramids. Following the announcement of his new show, betting odds on the presenter leaving The Chase skyrocketed.

BetIdeas offered odds of 4/6 on his departure, with a spokesperson stating: “Should Walsh depart the programme, the most eye-catching name in the betting to replace him is his son Barney, who is 5/1 to step into his father’s shoes in the ITV series.

“Stephen Mulhern is the market favourite at 2/1 to become the show’s next presenter, with Roman Kemp (5/1) also in the running.” However, despite the speculation, the presenter has not made any official statement about leaving the show.

With a schedule seemingly more busy than ever before, Bradley will also soon be back on screens with a brand new series of Breaking Dad, with his son Barney. This time, the father and son duo embark on an adventure across Japan and Thailand.

As ever, Barney pushes his dad to his limit with even more thrill-seeking activities, while the pair also explore the local culture. The Chase host said of the new series: “It’s so good to be back on the road again with Barney. We really do have the best time but I’m not quite sure what he has up his sleeve on this trip, which is slightly worrying.”

Barney added: “I’m excited to get stuck into this new adventure with my dad, and get him to experience the local cultures in Japan and Thailand. It’s going to be an exciting and adrenaline fuelled road trip with lots of fun and laughter.”
