Benidorm fans all issued the same plea as three members of the iconic cast reunited for a photo on Instagram. The hugely popular British comedy show aired for 10 series. The series first launched in 2007, before finishing in 2018 as audience dropped significantly.
Although the show is no longer on our screens, it still has a huge following and it can be streamed on Netflix. One of the biggest reasons the show has such a large following is because of the many memorable and quirky characters.
While on air, the show received plenty of awards. This includes National Television Awards and TV Choice Awards, even a BAFTA nomination. The show has even inspired many visits to the Spanish holiday spot.
Tony Maudsley, who played hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke in the sitcom, shocked his social media followers when he shared a photo of himself reuniting with some of the cast. He posed for a heartwarming snap alongside Siobhan Finneran (Janice) and Adam Gillen (Liam).
He captioned the post: “The sun always shines when the Benidorm gang get together!! ALWAYS a pleasure [red love heart emoji.]” The post was liked by thousands of fans, with hundreds taking to the comments to express their excitement over the unexpected reunion.
One follower said: “Please tell me this is a sign” while another wrote: “Omg the BEST programme ever!!! What a team right there!! xx.” A third begged: “Bring back Benidorm!”
Fans all issued the same plea as they hope the iconic series will make a return to screens sometime in the future. One fan called Hannah said: “Please say this is something to bring Benidorm back to our screens.”
Another called Joanne wrote: “Yes deffo bring back Benidorm my favourite show ever still watch it now x.” A third hopeful fan called Steph added: “Omg hope this is to film a special or something.”
Even though the show ended seven years ago, it still holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Hannah Hobley and Oliver Stokes, who played the roles of siblings Chantelle Garvey and Michael Garvey in Benidorm, recently appeared on Loose Women.
Loose Women presenter Charlene White spoke about the future of the show as she revealed that she had received a statement from ITV regarding the return of Benidorm. She stated: “ITV say ‘we’ve spoken to one of our sources over here and there’s nothing commissioned yet’, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.”
Since saying goodbye to the Spanish sunshine, Tony Maudsley has stayed busy in his acting career, landing the role of George Shuttleworth on the iconic Coronation Street cobbles.
The Kirkby actor first appeared in Weatherfield in 2020 and quickly became one of Coronation Street’s most important characters.
He was recently involved in several heartbreaking scenes which saw Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) die after battling cancer. The actress reprised her role as the lovable Julie as part of her sister Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) exit storyline.
George was forced to say goodbye to the love of his life as she decided to bid farewell to the cobbles to start a new life on the other side of the world with her son Jason.
The 57-year-old took to X in March to issue an update on his show future and revealed he wouldn’t be exiting Weatherfield anytime soon. He said: “That’s George serving (and burying) the good folk of Weatherfield till at least July 2026. Happy days!”
