Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Marquez is celebrating a milestone and his partner Gemma Atkinson shared a heartfelt message to her followers. The happy couple met on the hit BBC dancing show in 2017 and got engaged in 2021. They share two children, daughter Mia, six, and son Thiago, two.
Gemma and Gorka regularly share insights into their life away from the spotlight on social media. In a recent post on Instagram, Gorka informed his followers that today is his 35th birthday. He shared a photo of himself with the caption: “35 and grateful for another spin around the sun.”
Fans rushed to send their good wishes, as well as some of Gorka’s Strictly Come Dancing co-stars. Karen Hauer, Dianne Buswell, Jowita Przystał and Nadiya Bychkova were among the long list of professional dancers to send a happy birthday message to the Spanish dancing star.
Meanwhile, Gorka’s fiance Gemma Atkinson produced her own lengthy statement over on her Instagram page. Sharing several adorable photos of the couple together over the years, the radio star wrote: “Feliz cumpleaños Gorks!
“Another year around the sun and another year of memories made. I’m so proud of you, personally and professionally. This is your time! I can’t wait to celebrate you. The most caring dad and incredible partner, we love you [red love heart emojis].”
The post was liked by thousands of Strictly fans. Gorka commented: “Love you and miss you three lots”, as the dancer is currently in rehearsals for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Despite Gemma’s heartfelt message, fans were distracted by the carousel of gorgeous snaps of the couple glammed up for professional shoots. One follower called Emma said: “Bloody hell, can you two give the rest of us a chance? Taking all the beauty genes. Happy birthday Gorka!”
Sally said: “Such an absolute gorgeous couple and lovely little family.” Lea wrote: “All BEAUTIFUL photos but slide 7? It should be illegal for a couple to be that gorgeous.” Another follower added: “Fwaaaaaaaaar to the bloody both of ya.”
While Strictly Come Dancing returns to screens this month, Gorka has previously confirmed that he will not be dancing with a celebrity on this season. In a post on Instagram, the Spanish pro informed his followers that he will be taking on the role of a judge on the Spanish edition of Strictly for the second time.
The timing means that he will be unable to commit to dancing with a partner each week, but he will still take part in the extravagant group routines.

“Due to the filming dates this means that I won’t be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES. As always thank you for all The love and support and remember! Keep dancing!!!”
