BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell shares ‘special’ update days after pregnancy announcement

Dianne Buswell will compete on the next season of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell has shared a sweet post as she recently performed in the ballroom with Chris McCausland “as a three”. The couple triumphed on the show last year, as the Scouse comedian became the first blind contestant to take part in the show. Chris and Dianne went on to lift the glitterball trophy after several memorable performances.

The Australian professional dancer recently shared the incredible family news that she is expecting her first child with partner, Joe Sugg. The two met when they were paired together on the 2018 edition of the show and have gone to build a happy life together away from the dancefloor.

They shared a short clip with the Instagram followers on Sunday as Joe said: “Our little baby boy. We cannot wait to meet you.” Strictly co-stars flooded the comments to react to the happy news as Amy Dowden said: “Still screaming, dancing and celebrating! So so happy for you both! Magical Auntie Ames can’t wait.”

Stacey Dooley commented: “YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.” Ellie Leach posted: “CRYING. Congratulations, you will be the most incredible parents, so happy.”

As well as Dianne’s exciting personal announcement, she is set to return to the dancefloor for the upcoming series of the hit BBC dancing show. During the opening show on September 20, the celebrities will be allocated their professional dance partners ahead of their first official routine.

The Launch Show, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, will feature a dazzling group dance where all 15 celebrities and their partners take to the floor for the first time. Chris and Dianne will also take to the dancefloor a year on from their triumphant win.

The episode is pre-recorded and Dianne shared a heartwarming post on social media to mark the first time she performed with Chris on the dancefloor after announcing her pregnancy.

Sharing a photo of herself and Chris from the dancefloor ahead of the upcoming episode, she wrote: “Performing as a 3 [red love heart emoji]. It was extra special this final dance on the launch show @chrismccauslandcomedy thank you for being my friend and just an absolute role model to so many people!

“Don’t forget to tune in this Saturday for the launch show @bbcstrictly this dance will be performed again and we will all be partnered with our new celebrities for 2025.”

Amy Dowden commented on the post, she wrote: “So special.” Fans also took to the comments to send their support. One wrote: “Awww this is so special! Gonna be some tears on Saturday night xx.” Another wrote: “How special. I can’t wait to watch it again, I’m sure there will be tears.”

Chris and Dianne recently took home the BAFTA TV award for the most Memorable Moment of the year. Their emotional performance of a waltz to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ had fans in tears during the series.

After the performance, the 47-year-old Scouser asked Dianne “Did I do okay?” to which the Australian professional dancer responded “I’m so proud of you”.

Following the routine, Chris and Dianne received a standing ovation from the studio audience. Head judge Shirley Ballas, who hails from Wallasey, said: “I found that extremely emotional.”
