Sally Lindsay has been flooded with support after making a family announcement. The former Coronation Street star revealed she has become a grandparent for the first time.
The actress played Rovers Return barmaid Shelley Unwin from 2001 to 2006 and in that time she was won the ‘best actress’ category at the Inside Soap 2005 awards. She left the soap at the end of her contract to pursue other projects but returned for a brief stint in 2006.
The 51-year-old, who currently stars in Channel 5 crime-comedy drama ‘The Madame Blanc Mysteries’ alongside Sue Vincent, shared an adorable picture to her Instagram account showing off her first grandchild. She said: “Introducing our beautiful new grandson Jaxon Victor. Me and @whiteydrums are completely in love @kristabelwhite and Lou you are smashing it x.”
Sally was supported by fans and fellow Coronation Street stars after sharing the news. Catherine Tyldesley, who played Eva Price on the Cobbles said: ” Oh my days!!! Congratulations my love” and EastEnders star Heather Pearce, added “Wonderful” alongside a love heart emoji.
One fan replied “This is pure joy!! Congrats to you all”, a second responded “Awww amazing Sally! Just gorgeous! Massive congrats to you all.” The well-wishes continued with “Oh you’re gonna love this time of your lives ….” and “Congratulations to you all! What a little beauty” also commented on the post.
Speaking to Radio Times Magazine last month, Sally discussed a possible return to the ITV soap, saying: “It has been many years now and I’ve got my own show and I produce as well, so it’s probably not for me.”
It’s a year of change for Coronation Street, with some new characters joining the cobbles and some favourites leaving. Sue Cleaver, Colson Smith and Charlotte Jordan recently announced they are leaving the soap later this year.
