Amanda Holden says she gets “such a thrill” from a “weird” thing she does with her husband Chris Hughes. Speaking on Heart Radio’s Breakfast Show on Monday, the 54-year-old and co-host Jamie Theakston asked listeners to share their own “weird family rules” that once felt “perfectly normal,” but later turned out to be anything but.

Chiming in with a fond memory from her childhood, Amanda said that while it wasn’t exactly a rule, she and her sister used to love being chased up the stairs by their father. Keeping with this tradition, the Britain’s Got Talent judge confessed that she now does the same thing with her husband.

“I still to this day… my dad used to chase me and my sister up the stairs,” she revealed.

“We used to absolutely love it, and then I make Chris, my husband, do the same thing because it scares me so much, but I can’t stop laughing.

“And, you know, it’s like such a thrill because you don’t want to get caught because you’ll get tickled. But I still run and he goes, ‘I’m coming’- I used to love that.”

On the same subject, she revealed that her husband and their children also jokingly pretend to be asleep when she walks into the house.

The couple have been married for over 15 years and they have two daughters; Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13.

Amanda’s latest revelation comes after she previously gave listeners a further insight into her family dynamics, while live on the show.

Back in January, she playfully reassured audiences not to worry about her, after disclosing that Chris locked her in their garage at times.

While discussing darts champion Luke Littler, Amanda revealed that she and her spouse frequently enjoy the sport in their home garage.

However, in a bid to help her improve her skills, she said he locks her in their garage until she achieves the coveted 180 score.

She revealed: “If I can’t find Chris, he’s in the garage on the dartboard. I’ve told the nation before, please don’t worry for my safety, but Chris locks me in the garage until I score a 180. He won’t let me out.”

Seeming somewhat taken aback by her revelation, Jamie responded: “That’s sort of quite cruel, isn’t it?”

Highlighting the benefits, she added: “Hmm, the garage is quite nice. I tell you what I did, I was in there for so long the other night I actually did a bit of a clear-out of the garage.

“After it was his turn, I started re-boxing and reorganising.”
