Alison Hammond has stunned fans as she shows off her incredible 11st weight loss in a dazzling mermaid costume – leaving This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary and Josie Gibson in awe
Alison Hammond has become the talk of the town after her incredible 11st weight loss journey, which left her This Morning pals in complete admiration. She showed off her stunning mermaid transformation on the show to rave reviews.
Alison is currently the star attraction as the Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan at Birmingham Hippodrome for the second year running and is a total audience pleaser. Forty nine year old Alison joined hosts Dermot O’Leary, 51, Josie Gibson, 39, and Kate Lawler, 44, via a video call that started with her playful call: “Yoo Hoo! ” When a surprised Kate wondered aloud if it really was Alison, she received another light-hearted “Yoo Hoo! ” from the beloved presenter.
Then, Alison appeared, dazzling in a sparkling blue mermaid dress, and warmly greeted both Josie and Dermot. However, they were so entranced by her transformation that they found themselves at a loss for words; both agreed that their friend and fellow host looked “incredible” and “amazing” An impressed Kate even blurted out: “It’s mermazing! You look like you are straight out of the Little Mermaid.”
Instead, she embarked on her weight loss journey motivated by her mother’s passing and her concerns about Alison’s pre-diabetic condition, reports the Express.
Alison, who once weighed 28 stone and is currently dating David Putman who’s 22 years younger than her, has revealed that her weight loss journey wasn’t a quick fix but rather a simple strategy. She decided to ditch sweets and fatty foods from her diet and started working out with a personal trainer.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping UK about weight loss jabs, Alison confessed: “I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.She continued: ” She added: “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought: “I have to be an adult about this”. The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods.”
“Twice a week, I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a bit of yoga.”
In a thoughtful move, she decided to sell her old size 26 clothes to raise money for charity in memory of her late mother, who sadly passed away in 2020 from liver cancer. During a chat with Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie Smith on the What If? podcast, Alison expressed her commitment to prioritising her health and wellbeing while juggling her busy lifestyle.
She declared: “I want my journey to empower others to think about making changes to their lifestyle to become the best version of themselves.”
