Strictly Come Dancing contestant Alex Kingston has shared an update about her future on the BBC dance show after suffering a rib injury last week. The health concerns were sparked after the actress’ daughter Salome, shared a comment on an Instagram video of Alex and professional dancer Johannes Radebe dancing.
The comment posted by Salome after her mum’s performance, said: “So so proud! Slayed on the dance floor, dislocated rib and all!” After fans showed concerns, Alex addressed the injury and assured fans she will be remaining in the competition.
Alex shared to Instagram Stories last night: “I just want to assure everyone that I am completely fine. It is a minor injury, it’s all part and parcel of dancing at these levels.
“The comment was made by my concerned and loving daughter, nothing more. I will be on the dance floor as early as tomorrow morning… rehearsing. Super excited for next week! Cha Cha Cha.”
Alex’s update came after this weekend’s elimination was cancelled when La Voix pulled out of the competition due to a foot injury. The drag queen, also known as Chris Dennis off-stage, made history as the first drag star to compete in the main series of the dance competition.
La Voix was initially given a pass to the next round after an injury was announced last week. However, it’s now confirmed that they won’t be continuing in the BBC dance contest. The RuPaul’s Drag Race star wrote on social media accounts: “I’m absolutely devastated to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing.
“This isn’t the glittering exit I ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I’m letting people down. My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas!”

La Voix added: “Thank you for every cheer, every vote, and every sparkle of support – it’s meant the world to me.” Earlier in the series, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis had to withdraw due to a calf injury, while before the show had even started broadcasting, Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn pulled out on medical grounds, and Love Island star Dani Dyer was unable to take part after fracturing her ankle.
This week, Alex and Johannes Radebe did their Couple’s Choice to a mashup History Repeating by Propellerheads ft Miss Shirley Bassey and Look At Me by Geri Halliwell. Johannes said afterwards: “Darling, I just wanted you to shine and showcase how far how you’ve come and the other day, she said ‘Look at me!’ I said “Darling, I see you.” They received an impressive score of 35
