Abbey Clancy has shared a mortifying encounter that left her “wanting to die” after she mistakenly thought a woman was pregnant. The 39-year-old model, who was herself heavily pregnant and managing a newborn at the time, recalled the incident on her podcast with husband Peter Crouch, The Therapy Crouch.
Abbey recounted how she had been in a chemist when she saw another woman struggling with a baby who was “kicking off”. She assumed the woman was also expecting another child due to what she believed was a pregnant tummy.
She said: “I had a terrible incident in a chemist once when I was nine months pregnant and had a hold of a six-month old baby and there was a lady at the till with a baby and what I thought was a pregnant tummy. I said to her, ‘God, you’re as nutty as me’.
“The baby was kicking off and I went, ‘Oh God, we’ve got it all to come haven’t we?’ and she said, ‘I’m not pregnant, this is my baby weight from this baby’ and I just wanted to die. I was like, ‘I am so sorry, I am so sorry’.
“She went, ‘Don’t worry about it’, and thought it was funny but I was heartbroken. It’s not good, never, ever do that’.”

Peter chimed in, admitting he never congratulates someone unless they explicitly state they’re pregnant. He explained: “I genuinely don’t ever say congratulations, even if I know someone is blatantly eight months pregnant.
“I still don’t say it. I would never even… I just wouldn’t mention it, and if they say something like, ‘I’ve only got a month to go’, then you go, ‘Congratulations by the way’. I would never say congratulations, ever, because you never know.”
Abbey and Peter are parents to daughters Sophia and Liberty, along with sons Johnny and Jack. The pair have been an item for nearly two decades after crossing paths in a bar back in 2006.
Yet their romance got off to a turbulent beginning when Peter managed to irritate Abbey just moments after their initial encounter.

Speaking about their first meeting during a Good Morning Britain appearance, Abbey revealed: “When we first met, he begged me for my number and then I went to the loo or the bar, and when I came back, he was talking to another girl. I was like, ‘How dare you?'”.
Peter insisted he was “just talking” to the other woman, but Abbey demanded her number back. He continued: “I said, ‘You can’t give someone your number and then take it back’.”
Despite the early hiccup, the pair’s romance flourished and they exchanged vows in 2011. Reports from OK! suggest the family reside in a “magical” Surrey estate featuring its own cinema room and expansive gardens.
The impressive property frequently appears across Abbey’s social media platforms. Followers have caught sight of Peter at work behind his substantial wooden desk, adorned with football trophies, as well as making use of the home’s outdoor swimming pool and timber play zone. The family are believed to have relocated to the breathtaking residence in 2016.
