Laura Hamilton has admitted that she has been left frustrated by some “crazy” buyers during her time on A Place in the Sun. Laura, who has worked on the Channel 4 property programme for more than 10 years, opened up about the “timeless” nature of the show and its “perfect recipe” of sun, escape, people and property.
In each episode, experts help plucky house-hunters from the UK find property overseas. Yet, with this sun-soaked concept, it seems reasonable to assume there would be curiosity about the intentions of some participants.
Laura was quizzed on this very topic in a recent interview, in which she was asked if people participate in the show simply to land a free overseas trip, but the 43-year-old presenter set the record straight.
She told Woman magazine: “No! It’s a week’s work; it’s full on and busy. When someone comes on, they have no idea how TV works; they don’t know where they’re going; we keep everything a surprise.”

She continued: “It’s a big decision. It’s not a holiday. If some people decide not to buy, I never get offended as it’s such a personal thing. These are big decisions.”
Despite this, she conceded a specific frustration when it comes to the guests, saying: “I have shown people houses and thought, ‘You’re not going to buy this? You’re crazy!’ But you have to respect people’s choices.”
Last month, fellow A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman shared details about an embarrassing moment from her career. Speaking on the show’s YouTube channel, she recalled the “funny” incident.
She admitted that it wasn’t at all amusing at the time, but now it’s clearly in her rear-view, she can “look back on it” and find the ordeal involving a microlight “quite funny”.
Jasmine explained: “It was when we were filming in a microlight and I had this very handsome, kind of Tom Cruise-esque pilot flying me. But I started to get a bit of motion sickness and ended up vomiting inside my helmet, I was very embarrassed.”

In other news, Laura took to social media this year to share an exciting update involving the United Arab Emirates. She explained that over the last 12 months, she’d been visiting Dubai.
She said: “You might have seen that from my stories and posts that I have been doing. I have been coming to Dubai for many years and when you do the job that I do you love exploring the world.”
Laura disclosed that she’d been “seriously looking” at the local property market, chatting to developers and exploring various areas, before revealing that she’d bought her “very own property here in Dubai, in Dubai marina”.
She added: “It’s a move that’s all about property, potential, and thinking internationally. A new investment in a place known for its sunshine, skyline, and serious opportunity.”
