A Place in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman appeared on Loose Women yesterday to talk about A Place in the Sun and her new and upcoming projects. It has been over 20 years since the Channel 4 show aired and it still proves popular with viewers today.
Jasmine has been an integral part of the show since joining over 20 years ago, in 2004. The 49-year-old helps buyers find their dream home in the sunshine, so she regularly travels all over Europe to seek out the best properties for her clients and for viewers to look at. While she is most notable for A Place in the Sun, she has also worked on a number of BBC documentaries, including Collectaholics and My Hoarder Mum and Me.
Speaking to the Loose Women panellists, Jasmine opened up on her move to Spain. She said: “It was a long time coming. I was having to go away for work so frequently and leave my children, my family, back at home in the UK and my husband wanted to live by the sea.”
She added: “Now I get to do all the things I have been missing out on. I get to go home for dinner and do the laundry – all of those fun things.”
Jasmine said her children had been the main drive of the moving, as she told the presenters: “to be able to spend more quality time with them and to give them that opportunity to live in another country, to embrace another culture and to learn another language. For me, actually moving abroad in my 20s was a really transformational time.”

Sharing a picture alongside the presenters to Instagram, Jasmine said: “Thank you so much for having me on today, Loose Women. Can you believe A Place in the Sun is 25 years old and our latest series started yesterday!!
“As I said to the ladies, it’s more than just a TV show. It’s changed the lives of so many people for the better. It’s changed my life; it’s given me my career, my family and my new home in Spain – which you can see very soon on Jasmine’s Renovation in the Sun.”
Away from the screen, Jasmine is married to Jon Boast and the couple tied the knot in 2009. They met on the set of A Place in the Sun, as Jon was the director of photography. Jon and Jasmine share a son called Albion and a daughter, Joy.
Speaking to the Express in 2021, Jasmine said: “I met my husband, Jon, on my first A Place In The Sun. We did a pilot in South Africa, but when I filmed my first show for the series in Portugal, he was the cameraman.
“I wouldn’t actually say it was love at first sight; it was more of a slow burn. We met, became great friends and then we fell in love. Now we’ve got two children and a dog.”
The new series, Jasmine’s Renovation in the Sun, is a new 15-part series from Freeform Productions. Together with their two young children, the family are taking the plunge to purchase and renovate a rundown Spanish Villa.
The series will give an insight into the work that goes into making their dream come true as they juggle the demands of a renovation, busy jobs, young kids, making friends, and building a life for themselves in Spain.
