Music fans from across the world were thrilled to see Sir Rod Stewart perform at Glastonbury last weekend, 23 years after his last headline slot. The 80-year-old played the legends slot at the Pyramid Stage for the last day of the Worthy Farm festival on Sunday, June 29.
He was joined on stage by several back-up singers and a band as he entertained the crowd with some of his classic hits. When he’s not performing to thousands, Sir Rod resides in his sprawling mansion he shares with wife, model and TV personality Penny Lancaster, 54.
The couple tied the knot back in 2007 and together have two children. According to The Guardian, the family live in a 10-bedroom, Grade II-listed mansion on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, near Sawbridgeworth village, The Express reports.
Sir Rod purchased the property back in 2013 for an estimated £4.6million. After extensive renovations, the family moved in in 2016.
The couple’s residence is an 18th-century property near Harlow, dating back to 1712. Boasting 46 acres of land and woodland, it comes complete with self-contained cottages, a walled garden, a swimming pool, a football pitch, and a croquet lawn.

The charming town of Sawbridgeworth is steeped in history, with buildings harking back to the Tudor, Stuart and Georgian eras. And the leafy parish has seen another globally famous family take up residence in its quiet surrounds through the years.
Local landmark Rowneybury House was bought by Victoria and David Beckham in 1999 for £2.5m. The extensive grandeur of the property was so impressive that the media quickly named the 24-acre estate ‘Beckingham Palace’, with the couple selling it for a cool £11.3m 15 years later.
Those looking for something slightly more manageable than a 24-acre multi-million pound mansion may be pleased to learn that homes sell for an average of £481,288, according to Rightmove. The majority of properties sold in Sawbridgeworth during the last year were detached houses, fetching an average price of £704,776.

Flats were sold for an average of £219,445, while semi-detached properties commanded £481,727. In general, the historical sold prices in Sawbridgeworth over the past year were six percent lower than the previous year and six percent higher than the 2021 peak of £453,934.
Through the years, fans of the famous couple have been given an odd glimpse into the spectacular home. From time to time, they have shared photos on their social media, or appeared on TV in at home interviews.
In lockdown, Penny gave fans on Instagram a glimpse into their gorgeous kitchen. Painted in a sleek cream shade, there are marble worktops and around the cupboards are intricate carvings.

While appearing on ITV’s Loose Women, Penny gave viewers a look at what appears to be their study, which boasts a grand bookcase with family photos and Celtic souvenirs.
Sir Rod, a Celtic fan, has also showed his love for the club inside their home the gym. Decorated with scarves and framed shirts on the walls, Sir Rod previously showed fans his impressive workout space on Instagram.
While her husband was on our screens last weekend, Penny Lancaster will appear alongside mathematics teacher Bobby Seagull and television personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as Ben Shephard hosts ITV‘s Tipping Point. The episode airs on ITV on Saturday at 4.30pm.
