Stacey Solomon in tears as she admits ‘I don’t know what to do’ after family news

TV star Stacey Solomon was left in tears as she shared the heartbreaking news about her dog Teddy on BBC One’s Stacey and Joe.

The popular series follows Stacey, her husband Joe Swash, who recently landed his own show, and their family as they navigate life at Pickle Cottage with their numerous pets – including rescue spaniel Teddy.

However, in an episode this week, Teddy suddenly fell ill on Good Friday, leading to a panicked Stacey rushing him to the vet after he lost his ability to walk.

As Joe and their son Zachary arrived, an emotional Stacey embraced Joe, telling him: “It’s not that good. You come in and speak to her. I feel really bad.”

She tearfully confessed: “I don’t know what to do because you can see all his discs are gone, they’ve been bad – it must be hereditary, she said,” as she relayed the situation to Joe and Zachary. “I don’t know what to do.”

Joe, speaking directly to the camera, revealed: “At the moment, there’s a 70% chance that he’ll never be able to use his legs again. He’s slipped a disc in his back which is crushing his spinal cord which is making him paralysed.

“Is it fair putting him through an operation with such little chance of recovery? But then, he’s part of our family.”

The couple ultimately decided to proceed with surgery for Teddy and left him overnight, but their distress continued during the car journey home, reports the Mirror.

Calling her sister Gemma, Stacey admitted: “He’s only got a 30% chance of recovery. She didn’t say there’s 0% chance so what do you do? You have to give it a go, don’t you?

“He has to stay with them until at least Tuesday and that’s if he makes it and the spinal cord doesn’t die,” she shared, as Gemma tried to offer comfort.

“I’ve got to work out what I’m going to say to them,” Stacey admitted, referring to her children. “Because he might not come home, Gem.”

Just last week, Stacey gave an emotional update on social media, several months after Teddy’s operation. In a heartfelt Instagram video, Stacey revealed that she had taken Teddy for a grooming session as it was challenging to wash him herself due to his inability to stand.

She expressed her gratitude to fans: “Thank you for always asking after Teddy. It really means a lot. He’s such a happy boy. He’s such a lovely boy.

“He will never be able to use his legs again, but he’s getting used to wheelchair and, just, yeah. You just get on with it don’t you Teddy?”
