Emmerdale’s Mike Parr has become a dad for the first time. The 39-year-old actor, who portrays Ross Barton on the hit ITV soap, announced the exciting news he was expecting his first child with his partner Isabelle Du Plessis earlier this year. The couple shared a series of photos showcasing Isabelle’s baby bump in May this year.
The soap star first appeared in the Dales in 2013, and he stayed until his departure in late 2018. But Mike recently reprised the role, returning to screens as part of a bare knuckle fighting ring. His character has quickly settled back into the village.
Mike often shares snaps of his busy life off-screen, and his fans were thrilled to see him post more of his day-to-day-life in the weeks leading up to him becoming a dad.
He recently announced the news Isabelle had given birth with a heart-warming post on Instagram. Sharing a photo of himself leaving the hospital with his newborn, the actor accompanied the update with beautiful words.

He wrote: “I understand unconditional love for the first time! Dear Suzie, the last 6 days with you have been better than all my years on this planet combined. Life before you seems so meaningless.
“You have changed what the word love means to me. In fact, I’m not sure I understood what it was before I held you.
“There’s not a day that will go by when I don’t tell you and show you how much you mean to me. I’ll leave no stone unturned in making sure you always feel safe, supported, and loved. I absolutely adore you. Thank you for making us so happy. Love, Dad x.”
Mike’s Emmerdale co-stars rushed to send their support. Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby Milligan on the soap, said: “Thrilled for you both, sending tonnes of love. You’ll be an amazing dad. Lucky Suzie. Love to you all, little fam. Here’s to the biggest adventure of your lives xxxxx.”
Lisa Riley, who portrays Mandy Dingle, wrote: “So much love and congratulations to you all…..could not be happier for you all.”
Kelvin Fletcher, who played Andy Sugden until his departure in 2016, said: “Congratulations lad. What a journey you’ve begun.”
Bradley Riches also commented: “Love youuuu.” The actor recently made his soap debut earlier this year, as Lewis Barton, the long lost brother of Mike’s character Ross.
