
Gogglebox returned to our screens this month and familiar faces are now back on our screens every Friday. One of the families that viewers have favourited over the years are the Siddiqui family. Gogglebox stars the Siddiqui family found fame after joining the Channel 4 show when it first started in 2013.
The family have welcomed viewers into their Derbyshire home for over a decade and as a result have amassed a large Instagram following of nearly 140,000 followers, a platform the family use regularly to share insights into their personal lives and what they get up to when cameras stop rolling.
In a new update shared by Baasit’s wife, Mel, she wished her partner a happy birthday as she shared a photo of him wearing a “best daddy ever” top, alongside a number of other snaps to mark the special occasion.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday. Happy birthday @baasit_siddiqui. Wishing you the most wonderful birthday, we all love you to the moon & back and are so proud of everything you do. Love you always.”
Fans and fellow TV stars also wished the Channel 4 star a happy birthday. Dave and Shirley who entertain fans with their antics on Gogglebox commented: “Happy birthday mate, have a good one.”

Other replies included “Happy birthday, have a fantastic day” and one fan from Ireland said “Happy birthday from Ireland, love watching the 3 of you on Gogglebox, have a great day.”
Retired engineer Sid, appears alongside his sons Baasit and Umar on the show, their brother Raza sometimes makes a guest appearance on the sofa.
Baasit and Mel both described how they felt “emotional” in July as their daughter finished primary school and attended her year six prom.
The official ‘Siddiqui’ family Instagram account shared a photo of Baasit and his family, as Amelia wore a stunning red dress. The caption read: “Year 6 prom night. Amelia Rose – why do you look so grown up.
“This one has been so excited for her leavers prom party ALL year and last night she had the best time with all her friends and teachers. The school did an incredible job and spoilt them all.”
Baasit has been married to his wife Mel since 2014, and they share children Amelia and Theodore.
They married just one year after the family joined Gogglebox, The much-loved series first aired in the UK on March 7 2013. There have since been 25 series that have aired on Channel 4.
The production team spend time scouting out the perfect candidates for the show, and being spotted remains the only way to be on Gogglebox.
