
Olly Murs has revealed the reason behind his newborn son’s name. The singer became a dad again earlier this month and shared the news on September 4 of the adorable new arrival into the Murs family.
The 41-year-old already shares daughter Madison with his wife, Amelia Tank. Madison was born in April 2024. Olly shared a snap of the family-of-four exiting the hospital this month as he wrote: “Walking out as four. Welcome to the world, our little Albert.”
Last week, the former X Factor star shared a new update about Albert. He told followers what the reason was behind the name of the baby. Photos of Olly holding the baby were posted to his Instagram account and one picture was of his great-great Edward ‘Albert’ Murs.
Olly wrote: “A few people been asking why we chose the name Albert… it’s after my great-grandad Edward ‘Albert’ Murs. Me & Amelia loved the name after I was on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? and now our little man gets to carry that bit of family history into the future… love you son.”
Singer Jessie J commented “The best feeling in the world so happy for you all” John Bishop responded with heart-eyed emojis and TV presenter Lizzie Cundy posted “too cute.”
Olly found fame during the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009, where he finished as runner-up. He has since had a very successful music career with many Number one songs including ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’, ‘Heart Skips a Beat’, ‘Dance with Me Tonight’ and ‘Troublemaker’.

Olly first went public with wife Amelia Tank, in January 2020. Since then, she has featured in a number of Olly’s TikTok videos and on his other social media platforms.
He got down on one knee and popped the question to his bodybuilder girlfriend while the pair were enjoying a romantic getaway. Amelia shared a video of her jumping into her new fiance’s arms and planting a kiss on his lips. She later reshared Olly’s image of the proposal as she captioned it: “Here’s to forever with you.”
The couple married thirteen months after getting engaged at a festival-style occasion on July 16 2023, they rented Osea island in Essex for the occasion.
Olly has previously spoken about knowing his partner was “the one”, he told New magazine in 2022: “When we went to Morocco on our first holiday together, we both definitely knew.”
He added: “After two or three days, me and Amelia looked at each other and said, ‘Yeah, this is kind of it now, isn’t it? We both told each other that we loved each other.
“When we came back from that trip, Amelia said, ‘I knew straight away that you were who I was going to spend the rest of my life with’, and I said the same.”
