It’s been nearly 10 years since the final series of Downton Abbey aired on our television screens. The historical drama series, set between 1912 and 1926, follows the lives of the Crawley family and their servants on the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey is one of ITV’s top-rated and much-loved dramas and even though no new episodes have been made for over a decade, fans can still watch repeats on streaming services ITVX and Netflix.

The ITV show was a huge hit with audiences and aired for a total of sixth series. The show received such acclaim that it went on to have two film adaptations, Downton Abbey in 2019 and Downton Abbey: A New Era in 2022. The third and final instalment, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, had its London premiere last night (September 3) where Lady Mary star Michelle Dockery confirmed she is pregnant.

The Essex-born actress appeared on the show as Lady Mary Crawley throughout its six series. She also appeared in both films and is set to star in the third film.

She then went on to marry racing driver Henry.

Michelle Dockery received critical acclaim for the role and multiple award nominations including Best Actress at the Golden Globe Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. After Downton Abbey came to an end, she starred in the sci-fi thriller Self/less.

The 43-year-old actress has appeared in various television and film roles. She starred in the Guy Ritchie film, The Gentleman, alongside Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam in 2019.

She has also appeared on Good Behaviour, Godless, Family Guy, This Town and Defending Jacob.
