Abbey Clancy Says ‘I Don’t Want to Risk It’ in Strictly Admission

Abbey Clancy

Abbey Clancy has spoken about the prospect of returning to the dance floor, years after winning Strictly Come Dancing. The model claimed the Glitter Ball trophy in 2013 when she partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.

Speaking about the possibility of an all-star Strictly Come Dancing, Abbey told the Daily Star of her reluctance. She said “I did do a Christmas reunion once [in 2015]. But I don’t want to do [all-stars] because I already won.” Abbey wowed fans despite no previous dance experience.

The 39-year-old added that she didn’t want to “risk” going on it and again and not winning, saying she would “probably” say no. While no plans are in place for an all-star version of the show, former Strictly professional dancer Ian Waite has spoken about his thoughts on the idea.

He told Bang Showbiz this week that it is “definitely” something that they could look into and he believes it would be a hit with viewers.

Ian said: “Everybody loves the old pros from Strictly and the nostalgia that goes around it with certain couples, let’s say Darren (Bennett) and Jill Halfpenny and me and Zoe Ball, Vincent (Simone) with Rachel Stevens.”

Abbey and Aljaz were fan favourites on their way to lifting the Glitter Ball trophy. The Strictly contestants beat the three other finalists Susanna Reid, Natalie Gumede and Sophie Ellis-Bextor in the final.

Despite having no previous formal dance training, Abbey became a firm favourite as her confidence on the dance floor grew. Abbey and Aljaz wowed the judges and audience on the night of the final with three amazing routines.

They performed a Waltz to ‘Kissing You’ by Des’ree, a Showdance to Guns ‘N’ Roses’ ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ and their Quickstep to ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves.

Abbey has spoken to Virgin Radio UK about her struggles throughout Strictly. Speaking about her victory, SHE said: “I won, and Pete [Peter Crouch] still gets hailed the better dancer out of the two of us. It’s so unfair!”

She added: “I loved the training side of it. The performance side, I really struggled with. I love music. I love listening to music. I love learning a skill.

“For me, going to the gym or going on the treadmill is like hell, but doing a boxing class where you’re actually learning something… and with Strictly, I just loved doing something new and having that incredible routine at the end. But I hated the performance because of my nerves.”
