Coronation Street's Adam Hussain

Coronation Street’s Adam Hussain’s character of Aadi left the famous fictional street yesterday. The actor announced the soap departure back in April but viewers watched last night as his character left to move to India.

The family shared a farewell in yesterday’s episode. Aadi’s dad Dev and sister Asha embraced in a huge inside the Rovers Return as they spent some time together as a family. There were twists and turns in the episodes leading up to Aadi exiting the Street as Asha was called to the scene of a crash, the same car driven by her brother.

However, she soon realised he was not the driver of the vehicle and he was safe. After a panic attack suffered by his sister, Aadi was reluctant to leave but with persuasion and encouragement he chose to go ahead with plans and travel to India.

Uploading a selfie of his time on Coronation Street in April, alongside a group picture with the cast, the actor said: “I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.”

Explaining his reason for quitting his role, Adam told fans “Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little.”

Adam has today spoken about leaving the soap, on Instagram he said: “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for watching Aadi on Corrie over the years.

“You know these past five years have been so educational and such an experience. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and I have grown not just as an actor but as a person as well.

“I just want to say that it’s not goodbye forever but more like a see you later. If you want to keep watching me, then I will be around in other stuff, so keep your eyes peeled.”

The actor joined the soap in 2020 and immediately settled in as the son of Dev and Sunita Alahan. He took over the role from the previous actor who played the character, Zennon Ditchett.

Adam has had plenty of supportive messages after his last episode on the soap. Cait Fitton who plays Lauren Bolton commented: “We will miss u @adam__hussain_ good luck in everything.”

Fans commented: “One of the better actors who also made the character great! Good look for your future!”

Another wrote: “Wish you were staying! Your character had so much potential and would have loved to see your journey but wish you well in the future.”

Further responses included: “It’s hard saying goodbye so I’m glad you’ve said see you later. You truly brought Aadi to life and he was a great character. Will definitely miss you.”
