After months of eager anticipation, Swifties were in for a treat on Wednesday evening, when the pop diva herself officially unveiled all the details of her new album The Life of a Showgirl, as she appeared alongside boyfriend Travis Kelce on the New Heights podcast.
While the impressive twelve track listing and album art were the main topics of conversation, the two-hour long podcast was also sprinkled with heartfelt insights into the singer’s life, including the emotional moment she regained the rights to her master recordings – and the lasting legacy of the Eras tour.
Amongst the whirlwind of information, there was a significant health update for Taylor’s dad Scott, who underwent life-saving surgery after discovering he had a severe heart condition that required immediate treatment.

“He is doing incredibly well,” Taylor informed podcast host Jason Kelce when he asked about her dad. “My dad had an interesting Summer. He recently had a quintuple bypass surgery and that’s a really intense surgery. It all happened really quick.
“He’s had a healthy, perfect, EKG every year he’s gone in to get his physicals – but what found his five heart blockages was a resting stress test. So he’s been telling all his friends, ‘You need to get this stress test’ because that’s what’s actually preventative. If you can find that earlier, you don’t actually have to have a bypass surgery, you can sort out those blockages with stents and things that are a lot less invasive.”, reports the Express.
Taylor then disclosed the seriousness of her dad’s condition, explaining that within a day of discovering his heart blockages, he was scheduled for surgery – but in typical dad style, he didn’t want any of his family to fret or rush to his side.
Needless to say, Taylor didn’t heed this and promptly dashed to his bedside to aid him through his recovery – which involved a bit of tough love when she had to take away his phone after he spent all night FaceTiming his mates instead of recuperating post-op!
Unwilling to leave his side in case he required anything, both Taylor and Travis moved in with him for the Summer and with assistance from both her mum and brother, they were able to help Scott well on his way to recovery.
