Coleen Rooney has launched the next step in her career in an announcement alongside betting company Paddy Power. The mum of-four has put herself back in the spotlight in recent months after many years focusing on raising her children. She appeared on hit ITV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last year when she was runner-up behind McFly star Danny Jones.
The 39-year-old is joining forces with Paddy Power as the company aims to utilise Coleen’s detective skills as part of a recent promo video on social media. The Irish betting company announced they will be giving money back to all punters that backed a team which finished second to Manchester City in the Premier League since 2011.
Coleen was plunged into the spotlight when Rebekah Vardy attempted to sue Coleen for defamation after her viral tweet – which saw Wayne Rooney’s wife dubbed “Wagatha Christie.”
A documentary aired in 2023 which retold the story from Coleen’s perspective. It is titled: “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story” and is available to watch on ITVX.
In a video posted on Paddy Power’s Instagram, the company makes use of Coleen’s “Wagatha” detective persona as she takes on a role in the company’s Investigation Department in a comical sketch. Set in a mock investigative office, Coleen brings her no-nonsense approach to solve the public’s concerns.
Speaking of the collaboration, Coleen commented: “Fans invest so much into football, emotionally and financially, and sometimes it feels like they don’t get much back. This was a fun way to shine a light on that, whilst actually giving something back to the people who make the game what it is.”
The news comes months after Coleen launched her own line with Applied Nutrition in January. The range included a variety of health and wellness products including collagen, hydration, sleep, immunity and debloat.
Coleen spoke to the ECHO at the time of her exciting collaboration. She explained the decision to put herself back in the spotlight felt like a natural progression.
She said: “I had a lot of things going on in my life and my kids were only small. Now they are all getting that little bit older and I am ready to get back out there, do some work and media, which I’ve always enjoyed. My family always comes first and that was my main priority.”
It has also been confirmed that the Rooney family will be the focus of a new series launching on Disney+. The show will follow the lives of Wayne and Coleen and currently has a working title of “The Rooney’s.”

Disney says the observational doc-series will feature Coleen and Wayne Rooney like “we’ve never seen them before”, along with their family and friends.
The series will have ten parts and follow Coleen as she ventures into new entrepreneurial endeavours, while Wayne swaps training for the school run. The Disney+ exclusive series will offer unprecedented access that sees the family navigating the highs and lows of everyday family life.
The series was commissioned by Sean Doyle, executive director of Unscripted for Disney+ and is executive produced by Jon Swain, Commissioning Executive, Unscripted for Disney+.
Mr Doyle added: “We’ve seen great success over the past couple of years with our Disney+ Original unscripted series such as “Finding Michael”, “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story”, “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” and more recently, “Flintoff”.
“Our distinctive offering of combining the most talked-about household names and their incredible life experiences has hit the right note with our audiences who are looking for authentic and captivating real-life stories.”
