The relationship between Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain has been a favourite among fans of the soap since the two grew closer last year. The couple have been nicknamed “Swarla” and they have gathered a huge fan-base online.
The couple have recently moved into a new house on the famous street, making history on the show as the first same sex couple to do so. They moved into No.6 Coronation Street following Yasmeen Nazir’s exit earlier this year. Fans were quick to react to the sweet moment between as the couple sat down in their new home.
On Instagram, one account wrote: “Very very special and powerful moment, the chemistry is amazing” and another said “Just amazing this episode! Love these two, they are soulmates Hats off to the writers this episode was brilliant!”

Last month Vicky Myers shared her delight after receiving a nomination for best actress and best partnership at the Inside Soap Awards 2025. The ceremony will celebrate a number of different categories including best actress, best actor, best villain and best comedy performance.
To acknowledge her two nominations, Vicky, who is known for playing the role of Lisa Swain on Coronation Street, took to Instagram Stories. She wrote: “Absolutely delighted to be nominated for Best Actress and Best Partnership! Thank You so much”, the message was shared alongside a hand prayer emoji.
In May, Vicky was flooded with support as she marked a special milestone. The character has developed into one of the most beloved figures in Weatherfield since she became a series regular. Lisa’s storylines have been dominated by her romance with Carla Connor.
The popularity of the couple has been recognised and they were also nominated for best on-screen partnership in the British Soap Awards. Lisa’s time on the Cobbles looks set to continue for the foreseeable as her importance to storylines is showing no signs of waning.

Carla and Lisa will take centre stage on the soap next week as the Underworld boss decides it’s time to pop the question. At the start of the week, Carla and Lisa attend a life drawing class together but the evening is brought to a halt with another Betsy drama.
Later in the week, Carla excitedly takes a delivery for the engagement ring. Carla calls at the Rovers and handing the engagement ring to Glenda, asks her to slip it into Lisa’s glass of champagne when she arrives.
