Coronation Street has shared a teaser for fans of Carla Connor and D.S Lisa Swain as viewers need to “keep your eyes peeled”. Soap fans have fallen in love with the couple ever since their close bond blossomed into a relationship last year. They have been nicknamed “Swarla” and have gathered a huge fan-base online.
Fans can expect “Swarla” to take centre stage in the coming weeks as they are currently moving into their new house, making history on the show as the first same sex couple to do so.
They are moving into number six following Yasmeen Nazir’s exit earlier this year. In recent episodes, Carla was touched when Lisa decided to ask Ryan to move in with them so he had somewhere to stay.
In a post on Instagram, Coronation Street shared a teaser post which read: “Keep your eyes pealed for a Swarla house tour coming soon” alongside a selection of snaps of the characters unpacking their boxes.
Sydney Martin, who plays Lisa’s daughter Betsy Swain on the soap, added to the comments on social media as she joked: “MTV welcome to my crib.”
Coronation Street fans did not shy away from showing their excitement for the storyline. one said: “Making history, so excited for this” while another agreed: “Our girls making history.”
A third said: “This is history in the making, loving their journey. Both Ali and Vicky are amazing actresses, and their chemistry is off the chart. Love that Ryan is moving in, too!”
A fourth added: “The chemistry that they have is electric! More Swarla and Connor Swain scenes please.” A fifth also wrote: “Thank you, Corrie for giving us this beautiful storyline with these two beyond talented and incredible actresses! What a blessing!”
The couple’s popularity among fans has been recognised and they were nominated for Best On-Screen Partnership at the British Soap Awards.

Carla and Lisa will take all of the spotlight on the soap next week as the Underworld boss decides it’s time to pop the question. At the start of the week, Carla and Lisa attend a life drawing class together but the evening is brought to a halt with another Betsy drama.
Later in the week, Carla excitedly takes a delivery for the engagement ring. Carla calls at the Rovers and handing the engagement ring to Glenda, asks her to slip it into Lisa’s glass of champagne when she arrives.
