Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has shared the “catastrophe” that unfolded in the run-up to his wedding day with Hanni Treweek last weekend (Saturday, July 26).
Chatting about the chaos leading up to the big day, Jack revealed to his Corrie co-star Ben Price and former colleague Colson Smith that the preparations had been “chaotic”, and a “catastrophe” had occurred involving his future mother-in-law.
Recalling the incident on his On The Sofa podcast, he said: “So she rings me and she’s like: ‘We’ve had a problem.’ I’m like, ugh. So I’m thinking: ‘(It’s) the car. Is the car alright?'”
“And she went ‘no, the car’s fine’. And I went ‘what is it?’ Before she replied “I think I’ve broken my arm.”

Agreeing to meet her at the hospital, he thought it would be a quick “in and out” visit, but they ended up waiting approximately eight hours to see a professional: “It was a Monday, three o’clock. So you’re thinking, I’ll be in and out, it’s Monday, you know, dead quiet. It was rammed.”
After confirming that she had indeed broken her arm, his focus shifted to his wedding day. He shared that his wife was “mortified” at the idea of her mum wearing a cast, particularly for the traditional wedding photos.
Despite his mother-in-law’s painful accident in the build-up to the wedding, their joyful day proceeded as scheduled last weekend as the fortunate pair were surrounded by friends and family alongside soap stars to celebrate the momentous occasion at Manchester Cathedral.

The pair first met on Coronation Street after Hanni had been working in the press office (before subsequently moving into script writing) while Jack had already been on the programme for more than ten years at that point.
Although they worked alongside each other, it wasn’t until a mutual friend’s wedding in 2020 that the couple developed a romantic spark, with Jack previously remembering the instances they “flirted and chatted”, during a chat with OK!
Beyond his romantic endeavours, Jack has positioned himself as one of the longest serving stars in Coronation Street’s history as he marked his 25th milestone on the cobbles earlier this year.

While his character has emerged as a fan favourite over the years, his time on the street has seen considerable upheaval alongside a regularly troubled relationship with his on-screen mum Gail Platt (who was played by Helen Worth until her exit in 2024).
Coronation Street is due to return this evening (Friday, August 1) at 8pm on ITV.
