Jason Manford has shared a health update with fans after being forced to cancel some of his tour dates. A statement from the comedian’s social media channel this week said three dates over the next three days had been rescheduled.
The statement, posted to the star’s Instagram and Facebook pages, read: “We regret to inform you that the following performances of A Manford All Seasons have been unexpectedly cancelled due to Jason Manford being unwell.”
The message added: “Should you be unable to attend the rescheduled performance you will have the option to request a refund. Please hold onto your tickets.
“The venue or your point of purchase will be in touch with further details. Thank you for your understanding and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Concerned fans took to the comments to wish the comedian well and send support his way. Jason has now shared a further update with fans about his condition.
Posting a photo in a hospital gown and lying on a hospital bed, Jason wrote: “Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals.
“Bit of a scary & extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS & my incredible nurse mum who’s a godsend in a health crisis! My advice would be to not get Appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!”He added: “Seriously though, I’m gutted that I’ve had to move the dates this weekend, and I’m sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness & at Kendall Calling.
“I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows, but was advised not to.
“Also means I can’t fly out to Portugal on Monday to join my family on holiday! Ah well, such is life. Thanks for all the ‘Get Well Soon’ messages.”
Jason has been sent further messages of support. Fellow comedian John Bishop wrote: “That smock suits you”, alongside a smiling face emoji.
Former Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington commented “Get well soon” and TV presenter Dermot O’Leary added a red love heart emoji. Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney told the comic to “take care” and Corrie’s Andy Whyment commented “Get well soon mate.”
One fan commented: “Get well soon @jasonmanford, funny how quick it can hit you, you were in flying form in Drogheda last Thursday, mind yourself.”
Jason responded “I was literally filming stuff until 2pm yesterday and 3pm it hit me by 5 I had collapsed on the hospital waiting room floor! Madness.”
The 44-year-old comedian had been set to perform his show A Manford All Seasons in Hertfordshire on Thursday, but was abruptly cancelled due to his sudden illness. Three more shows in Oxford, Lincoln, and Skegness were also postponed.
