
Coronation Street viewers were gutted after Sally Ann Matthews announced she will be leaving the show. The soap star is renowned for her role as Jenny Bradley in the ITV show.
The 54-year-old first joined the Cobbles’ cast in 1986 and became one of the show’s most popular characters until she left in 1991. Sally returned to the show on a permanent basis in 2015 and has been a fixture in Weatherfield ever since. Jenny became the landlady at the Rovers Return and has been a key part in some of the show’s most exciting storylines.
However the actor has appeared to confirm her time on the show is coming to an end. She said: “I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much!
“It’s time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I’d ’grown up.’ Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter x.”
The Coronation Street set is located on Trafford Road Wharf and fans took to the comments to wish the soap star well as she prepares to embark on a new adventure.

Han added: “You will be missed. thank you for the wonderful time.” Sally is the latest in a number of stars who have departed the soap this year.
The actor joins a list that also includes Sue Cleaver, Charlotte Jordan and Colson Smith.
