
Chloe Kelly has been the hero at two Euro final games for England’s women. The Lioness has demonstrated countless times that she can be relied on when called off upon off the bench to find winning solutions in games.
She was the Euro 2025 final hero against Spain when she bravely stepped up to take and score the winning penalty in the shootout. In the Euro 2022 final, she scored the winning goal before celebrating by twirling her shirt above her head. The Arsenal player sat on the This Morning sofa yesterday with Dermot O’Leary and Rochelle Humes, she opened up about her mental health and having to fall back in love with the game.
Dermot asked the Lioness: “You went through a period Chloe, you almost quit the game, right?” She responded to the TV presenter, telling him: “mentally I was in a really dark place in January and I needed to find happiness again both on and off the pitch.
“You need to look after your mental health and football felt so far away at the time and I went on loan to Arsenal and I found such happiness. Coming back to London of course is my city where I grew up.”
She added: “Being closer to my family and every day stepping onto the pitch at Arsenal I felt my smile was coming back. As the months went by I could feel myself smiling again and I think that’s really important as human beings, we are footballers, but we are human beings.”
Fans of the footballer sent supportive messages after she spoke about her mental health. Kylie wrote: “She’s an incredible athlete to watch on the pitch and so glad she’s found her happiness again.”
Another fan said: “Living legend. Give her the Ballon d’Or and an MBE to be honest. She basically carried England to back-to-back euro… that deserves a statue.” Another said: “Give her BBC personality of the year.”

Kelly almost quit football six months ago, unhappy at Manchester City. Her loan move to Arsenal revitalised her career and every time She now has a Champions League and another Euros winners medal to show for it. The winger is now permanently back with the Gunners and will be aiming for a WSL title to add to her collection.
Kelly smashed home the Lionesses’ fifth and final spot-kick as they defended their European title, prompting wild scenes in Basel. After the final, she said: “It is going to be crazy. I hope the whole of England comes out to support us and show their love to these girls as they deserve it.”
The Lionesses were cheered by thousands of fans along The Mall on Tuesday after the team defended their Euros title with a penalty shootout win over Spain in the final in Basel, Switzerland.
There was singing, swearing and even a splash of royalty in attendance at the jubilant parade in central London.
Wearing white Nike T-shirts and England scarves, the team took photos with their phones as the buses travelled down the street, led by the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth and flanked on either side by cheering fans waving flags.
Manager Sarina Wiegman danced alongside afrobeat star Burna Boy on stage while there was also a performance of Proud by Heather Small, before captain Leah Williamson lifted the trophy in the air to huge cheers.
